The Story of Me, 11 Year Old Audiophile, Artist and Tech-Junkie.

Featured Replies

Since I announced my age last night on the thread 'Eclipse TONIGHT' last night, I have decided to tell my story, to let you understand that I am no ordinary 11 year old. To the post...

BEGINNINGS

When I was born, my parents lived in the city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was a night with a -70 degrees Fahrenheit temperature, about -57 for you living outside the US. My parents, with 2 children already, weren't too wealthy. When I was 2, we moved to the small town of Vermilion, because the University of South Dakota is there. When I was 4, we moved to my current town of Sioux Center, IA.

INTEREST IN TECHNOLOGY

When I was 1, I was interested in the new white box sitting in the kitchen. It was a Gateway Windows 98 desktop. Through pure experimentation, by the time I was 2 I was watching DVDs on it, playing flash games and using the GIMP. Nowadays I am a tech junkie who knows about everything to know about computers. I am using my own Linux computer that I built myself to write this, actually.

INTEREST IN MUSIC

I'll do a timeline for this one..

5 years old: Gets a cassette player. First tape: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles

7 years old: Gets a CD player. First CD: From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy (I know :()

8 years old: Finds a copy of Parachutes in the closet. I joined this forum shortly after.

10 years old: Gets iPod.

11: Gets record player. First LP: Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits.

INTEREST IN ART

Doodles come naturally to me. I come up with some that are crazy, some abstract, some beautiful.

I didn't do much except for doodles before I got a huge pro art kit for Christmas. Now to keep begging my mom for a scanner so I can upload some artwork...

Very brief description of my life. Now to get that book deal...

Don't feel awkward or anything about being eleven. We all know that you're not one of those people that can't spell or listen to bad music. Don't worry about it.

I only say this because I used to feel like that when I started here. =D

when i was 11, i didnt have internet at all. what about ipod or anything like that *g*

My first cassette way back when was Simon & garfunkel's Greatest Hits!!

So, we should call you Wolfgang then?

^I think that would be a suitable nickname!! I don't know anybody under the age of 40 who can put a computer together!

PS. I already knew you were 11

when i was 7 i dont know anything about musics (although it is FOB...) and i just watching cartoons

amadeus & then some!

You're Truly Gifted, and Talented! ;) All I had when I was 2-5 was the lite-brite, a spirograph, some cool Aztec fill-in-the spaces posters, and some old phone equipment and a crank generator to play with.. (well, there was a bit more - but no computers! You had to build your own from logic chips back then, and we had no access to such things..). You were starting to do this when you were 1 or 2?? And now you have a computer you have built yourself, that runs Linux?! Wow, you're quite well ahead of most everyone on this planet your age!! HOORAY Yamfox!!

You could probably get a job working for Seymour Cray programming a supercomputer, or create better operating systems for the future (and we all know Microsoft's could use an overhaul!).

Einstein might be a closer nickname, me thinks..;);)

I was pretty good with Lego when I was 11.

When I was 11......it was not that long ago

Nice. You're like me then.

When I was eleven or twelve I was studying CSS and HTML and stuff so I could make my own custom layouts for shops and stuff on neopets. :laugh3: I was pretty profficient with Macromedia Fireworks 'n stuff as well.

I started using a computer at one or two and I'd play this old peanuts game where you put the 50 states together, which I could...

I've always been somewhat artistic too... I drew this when I was 11...

This is our future. ;)

I wish i could've been able to watch DVDs when i was 2 :bigcry:

Nah, i probably wouldn't have understood a thing anyway :wacky:

But hey! I started to walk when i was 8 months old. BEAT THAT people HA!

Haha... When I was 11, I was into the Spice Girls! But when I was around 9, I listened to my dad's Hall & Oates, and was banging away at my keyboard pretending to be Elton John. Wow. I was freaky.

I wrote my first song when I was 10...and at the time I thought it was pretty good...it sucks, lol. I also started loving the Beatles at 10, so my music taste was pretty genius, lol, but I didn't start playing with computers until 15 (and maybe Chuck will remember the Commodore Vic 20 or 64? Not very complex stuff!) I'm still blown away! I just hope the military doesn't snap you up and use your powers for EVILLLLL!:laugh3::laugh3:

When I was 8 I knew how to use HTML off the top of my head and had memorized hundreds of codes and stuff to use on websites (I got my fist computer when I was 7). But I've forgotten it all now!!!

Lol yeah I forgot all of it now. I still know a little bit of CSS though.

.....though we don't need to anymore since there's Dreamweaver! Haha.

 congrats for all that yamfox... i didn't knew you are that young, you are very lucky and talented i think.

and also for linux (which one do you have?)

wow yamfox... I thought you were like 16

anyway... what a cool 1st cassette

^ i'm 16 and i don't know a lot of things. i think i am so stupid when i come to this thread.

you're great, yamfox! :laugh3:

nah, it doesn't matter if you know computer stuff. I'm sure you excel in other areas.

Me too. I looooooooved Neopets. I was always making Coldplay layouts, but they were awfully basic. I still make layouts for some of my friends, but I don't go on. Still spam there, though.
