EMI To Hold Listening Sessions For Viva La Vida, Abbey Road Studios

Featured Replies

EMI begins the roll-out of the media campaign for the new album this week, as the major gears up for the first significant release under its new A&R structure.

EMI will hold listening sessions for Viva La Vida this coming Wednesday and Thursday at Abbey Road Studios for journalists from long-lead publications.

The listening sessions follow the announcement last week of a new UK A&R structure in which managing directors Miles Leonard and Ferdy Unger-Hamilton were promoted to president of A&R labels for Parlophone and Virgin respectively. EMI Music UK senior vice president Mark Collen, who oversees the Angel label, and Terry Felgate, managing director of EMI Records, will also be changing roles but details have yet to be finalised. A source says that the pair are “considering other senior roles”.

Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends comprises ten tracks produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs.

Coldplay are giving away the first single from their new album as a free download from their website ahead of its general digital release.

Violet Hill will be available from http://www.coldplay.com from tomorrow (April 29) at 1215pm. This coincides with the track’s radio premiere and comes ahead of its paid-for release on May 6.

The same track is also being given away as a free seven inch vinyl with the May 6 issue of NME.

The band will also be playing two free shows, at London’s Brixton Academy and New York’s Madison Square Gardens on June 16 and June 23 respectively.

In addition, the UK release date of the new album, entitled Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, has been brought forward four days to June 16, putting it in line with the global release.

Keep an eye out for album reviews folks!

eh, maybe, but i'm not all that hopeful. these guys would lose their very nice jobs and more over that, since most of these reporters/journalists are usually high-profile. it's one thing for a guy on a factory line to swipe a CD as it comes off the belt, but i think it would be entirely another for some well-known rolling stone journalist to somehow record the listening session on a pocket recorder. that's career-ending.

more reviews !!! heeee June's coming so fast :D

NEW SITE!!! THE NEW SITE IS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, yeah, so was I. It was one of the most electric couple of hours in my whole tome on this forum. I didn't get up til 2pm today because I couldn't fall asleep until 6...and something tells me tonight's not going to be much better, lol.

Thanks for the news Ian. Reviews will be forthcoming soon!:D:D:D

:thinking:Is there anybody here that is a journalist that lives in near abbay road and has a press pass? THAT would be great!! :D

Leak alert this weekend?!
Not a chance. It's EMI that's having the listening. EMI.... who are waiting for the Coldplay cash cow to drop...will I'm sure have some serious security there. They will most likely be holding family members hostage and if it leaks, they die! :laugh3:
