I constantly debate which is the best genre

 

My opinions:

 

Heavy Rock- if you can hear vocals, if they don't scream then it might be good

Light Rock- Awesome

Alternative rock- Awesome

techno- The worst genre, requires no hard work, is a hype not music!!!

Rap- Depends on chorus and meaning

country- depends on how much inclination it has to rock.

pop- its not a genre, it is a form to refer to the music of today

 

best- alternative and soft rock

Alternative- Coldplay and radiohead

techno-moby kinda

rap-kanye

country- bob dylan

well i agree in every thing you say but the old pop have quality just for the pop these days have premaded bands and singers put the word pop as poop doesnt meant that all the pop music in the history is shit.

pop has been good, but pop isnt a genre.

the beatles were pop but there true genre is rock.

kanye is pop but he will be classified in the future as hip-hop.

Stop classifying music anyway, you are never going to reach a conclusion.

rock has many subdivisions such as indie but i wanted to make as compact as possible

I mean.. It's ok to mildly point someone in the direction of what style of music a band is playing, but putting everyone into such specific groups like mr. chill dude here is doing is a bit too extreme for my liking.

Coldplay is now considered pop. VLV is in no way shape or form a rock song. Its not even soft rock. Alternative rock has a certain style and edge to it which clearly they don't have anymore.

It is so hard to properly categorize any type of music, and so many bands fit into endless amounts of genres. Personally I like very heavy soft alternative pop indie acoutic piano experimanental blues jazz reggae rock. :P

Coldplay is definitely not alternative.

But I agree with most of you, it's really really hard to classify a lot of music..

I don't think it's about a best genre.. there's good and bad bands in almost every genre so...
