Who got the best presale seats so far?

Featured Replies

Where are you getting presale tix from????? I wondered why I'd not heard anything about them. I just got tix for philadelphia show but did general sale. Seats are decent. Seriously though, where do I find info about presale? I will also be purchasing for the Meadowlands show.

Thanks!

The presale tickets were for BestBuy Reward Zone Members-you had to be a member from 1st May. You got a special code to buy tickets from ticketmaster. So the presale is pretty much done and dusted, its straight to general sale i'm afraid!

I'm shocked that Coldplay didn't help out their fans for this tour, so far.

I actually think it's unbelievable able that there was no Coldplay Fan Club presale.

So I contacted Coldplays management to complain about this and received an email this morning. The band/management chose not to do a fan sale for two reasons. Firstly, they felt the time frame was too tight to do a presale-it is less than two months. Second, last time they were disappointed that many of the fan presale tickets went to scalpers and not fans. Many fans also felt they were disappointed not to get tickets thru the fan sale. So it was felt there was no fair way to ensure fans got the tickets and that general sale is the fairest way.

The reply concluded that this is something they will consider in the future and the BestBuy promotion is not endorsed by the management or band, it was a matter of accepting this small presale as a condition of booking these venues with the promoter they engaged.

So that is the explanation! I can't say I agree with the lack of presale to fans but the explanation about the lack of time to arrange this is understandable. I think they should have announced the tour and added the reasons why there was no presale. I think a lot of people were hoping for a while that they would get a presale info email!

Wow! Can't believe you actually got a response! Impressive. Well, it makes sense even though I think there has to be a way to do a successful presale for fans.

I guess its time for me to find a good scalper:\

I think it is awesome that you contacted them but I think it bullshit and laziness. They know well in advance that they are going on tour and they could have done a presale. That is so why I back downed as a moderator on the official site. They closed down the official board b/c they say that too many people try to spam and talk crap. Now the board is not Coldplay affiliated but still remains. They could have updated the forum but again they are lazy and its bullshit. As big as Coldplay is they could do a yearly membership and offer presales but they don't want to offer it to the fans. This morning I got up and purchased some tickets to the show in Oklahoma because if I don't get seats to the Vegas show it is closest city to me this summer that they will be performing at. I don't want to wait until November to see them here in Dallas. I bought the first tickets that came up for me thinking they were the best seats and they were not. I tried for about twenty minutes after to see what I could score and I could have gotten better seats if I had not gotten the other tickets.

UGGHHH this upsets me....I am hoping that I am able to score seats to the Dallas and Vegas show!

hey Melissa!

i think you are right that some of the management blurb i got was bullshit, but PR-management usually is. But from other info I have heard, these July dates were hastily booked-like within the last month. To compare, Radiohead sold their second leg US tour presale five weeks ago and it will be another four weeks before they can send out the actual tickets. So I kinda accept the explanation that time may have factored against a presale.

I did find out that MGM Grand promoter does have some sort of contractual arrangement with BestBuy regarding presale-I think Coldplay are useing the same promoter for this tour.

You are spot on about some of the criticisms about how coldplay are managing things right now. The closure of the messageboard and other areas of the old site are weird! Right now coldplay.com is fairly useless, theres so little on it!

I think ticket presales for big bands like coldplay, should be done by regestering your email and through a purchased membership or through purchasing a product from their web store. This would reduce registration by scalpers. Only those people who are registered and make a purchase would get presale codes.

By the way, the management did not respond to my criticism about ticket prices.

Thanks for letting me know and for reaching out to management. At least we have SOME idea why there wasn't a presale.

I am surprised they even responded but people that work in PR are bullshit! I have no idea why it takes so long to send people their tickets....its not a science or something. I really hope I get good seats to the Vegas show. I absolutely love Vegas and seeing them while I am on vacation would be great =) It is really stupid for them to change things because it leaves a bad taste in mouths for the fans who are thinking the presale is going to happen just like all of the other tours.

Scalpers are always going to find a way to get tickets....but if you have to buy a membership I am sure it would cut down on scalping at least a little bit. The last tour I had pit tickets here in Dallas and I think I paid something like 76 bucks but that is not including fees. Our economy is not doing so great right now and I expect them to raise the prices a little but I spent over two hundred dollars for tickets today and the seats are ok but I wish I was closer. If you do get better seats for the Vegas show you have to sell your other seats! I am hoping to get some and I am crossing my fingers! I have seen them live 8 times already

Hey Melissa!

If I get really great seats tomorrow I will give you first refusal on them okay? No obligation to buy whatever I find. Just face value okay! I am going to ask friends, clients and anybody else about getting great seats too! Let me know what sections you prefer and I will keep an eye out for you! At the moment I have seats in U13, Row M. Feel free to message me and let me know what areas you really want!

Hey tigermillk. You're being really helpful to all us fans, especially the Vegas are ones.

Thanks a bunch, and way to stick with fellow Coldplayers. We'd all do the same for you, if we had the chance.

Viva Coldplay.

thanks hyphin! you are very welcome!

i will start a thread from tomorrow to see if we can band together and exchange, swop, sell(face value only!) or give away tickets. i want us(fans) to look out for each other and help each other get great tickets. good luck for the general sale everyone!!!

Thanks again, Tigermilk. You are really going above and beyond and it means a lot.

I have two words about fairness: General admission.

Hello? It's so simple. It gives you the chance to wait for hours to get up front. THAT is fair. I am willing to wait 12 hours in a line to be up front. But I won't get the chance with assigned seats. Would a scalper wait for 12 hours? Who knows. I did it for Metallica twice. I got front row the first time, and touched James Hetfield's hand the second time. Nothing beats that. And it was all due to general admission. Oh yeah, and the existence of their fanclub. The fanclub got me the floor seats.

i have a feeling the seats that are left are gonna be shitty

sooooo yeah i got locked off the site b.c i refreshed too many times

shit seats left

i searched right away for floor seats...none!! did multiple best available seats and nothing was any better than what i got
