Not Impressed with Violet Hill video

Featured Replies

at least it didnt have a bunch of naked girls humping their legs while they smoke weed and talk about their bitches and hoes

You mean "unfortunately it didn't...". Don't worry the next vid will feature hoes, 'gnac, cadillacs, grills and chains.

Well, Martin does take inspiration from Kanye West.

My brother thinks it's brilliant. And I kind of like how the less than super-serial tone kind of breaks the tension we all feel going into the album. It's kind of a 'calm down! and have some fun--quitpanicking and worrying about how this song will sound or how this video will turn out' kind of video. The direction they went with the video kind of expresses that the music industry shouldn't be a contest. It's not about always trying to make the most universally great album of all time, or a high budget blockbuster of a music video as much as it about doing what the artist wants to do at a given time.

I like the video because it's the opposite of the scientist video. It's has a sort of relaxed production that doesn't seem worried about trying to be the best video of all time. and it's because of that attitude that the video is cool and unlike any other video they've done before.

At first I didn't really like it either, but it's really grown on me, just like the song, and, just like the song, while it appears low budget, it's more of a very grungy, rugged video which I feel has a very unique feel.

Everything looks tired, everyone looks tired, the wind blows at their ankles and it all goes at a great pace with the clips being thrown around rapidly. The quirky humour I feel is also welcome.

The only thing I didn't enjoy greatly was the ending with Chris walking through the snow. While it was quite cool, and roughly amusing, I don't think it flowed well with the soft music. The fireworks in the politicians version was amazing, in my opinion.
