Why is there an England/Argentina rivalry? <---those games are always awesome

3 reasons

 

1. The Falklands war (same reason why there is an England/Germany rivalry...there's a football song that goes "2 world wars and 1 world cup do da do da" that English fans sing to taunt the Germans)

2. 1986 world cup, the hand of god...when maradona handled the ball into the net vs England, a game Argentina finally won 2-1, he later claimed it was the hand of god. Twat.

3. 1998 world cup, Diego Simeone gets Beckham sent off by falling down like a girl hit by a truck. We then loose on penalties.

 

So imagine the joy when we beat them 1-0 in 2002 world cup thanks to a Beckham penalty :)
