No, the Coldplay frontman is not pulling a Dave Grohl and giving up his favorite instrument, but he is gearing up for some serious guitar shredding ― on a video­game console near you.

 

“[‘Violet Hill’] is the first Coldplay song to be put on 'Guitar Hero,'” Martin bragged to EW on a recent visit to the band's London studio.

 

And unlike much of their lulling repertoire, he cracks, “It’s not [all] about the piano s---.”

 

The downloadable track will be part of a massive publicity rollout for Coldplay’s new album, Viva La Vida (out June 17), which includes a performance on the 2008 MTV Movie Awards (airing June 1) and free concerts in London (June 16) and New York City (June 23).

hahaa, you know, violet hill is actually a great choice! but i'm SO painfully bad at guitar hero that i tend to avoid it, but i'll give it another go if coldplay's to be included :D

 

now if they could only incorporate coldplay into more sports-themed videogames...i rock at those :P

i might give that a go :D but i can alreday play it on guitar...wouldnt that be a step down? :D

AHH darn, I sold my copy of the game! Good thing I work at GameStop, I can just check it out for a a few days to play VH :cool:

Oooh this is exciting! :D I love Guitar Hero!!!! And I figured that Violet Hill would be a GH song. It's probably the most 'rockerish' song that Coldplay has done.

DAMN! If only it was on rockband as well! I gave up on the guitar hero world the day I got rockband. The drums would be soooo much fun for Violet Hill
