i think this is likely too, but the long break will KILL me :dead: :P

how long do you think a long break is? i have to say i don't think it would be any more than 5 years...i don't think even they could wait that long or occupy themselves with collabs for that long . i think they love each other and the band too much to go away for more than 5 years.

I reckon it'll be a couple of years before they go in to the studio again, then it depends how long it takes them to produce something they're happy with - we know they won't rush things just because the record company wants it (actually, they'll be free of EMI by then). But it won't be five years before we hear something. It won't take them that long to record - it's not Chinese Democracy :laugh3:

End of story

You know it.

i suppose you're right. it's just that it was three years between X&Y and VLVOD, and i don't think they considered that very 'long' of a break. i would think 5 years might constitute a 'long enough' break to them before they got ants in their pants and itchy to create a new album. but VLVOD took over a year to record too, so who even knows? :P

Yeah, but if they have a proper break from each other, they'll come back refreshed and buzzing with new ideas - so it might not actually take as long to record something. I'm sure it won't be 2014 before we hear from them again (after 2009's release - please God let it include Lhuna!)

i wonder if we can hold them to the 2009 release? i mean, it was CHRIS that said it. we know his mouth. i just kind of wonder how likely it is, unless it's basically going to be another prospekt's march in the sense that it mostly consists of VLVOD leftovers. even if it isn't out till november or december 2009, when the HELL will they record all that? it seems like they're still going to be on the road for the better part of 2009 now. i'm thinking mid-2010 at the earliest, unless they really have a lot of it already in place.

No, I'm sure something will be out next year. The Oracle seemed to suggest that we would be hearing Lhuna at some point.

Maybe they'll end their decade with a greatest hits, tacking on a couple of new songs, including the Kylie duet.

It would be a great way to bring one chapter of their career to an end - and free them of EMI!

i guess he didn't ever say "we'll release our 5th album in 2009" :P. it could just be a "release" like that, which is fine by me, especially because we've been so spoiled this year. but if it's a greatest hits with 2 or 3 new tracks, or another EP, that's amazing!

Don't mean to sound depressive or whatever

But i've had some tough times, and I think i literally owe Coldplay my life

Their songs have helped me through so much its phenomenal,

After Crying and sulking for hours if they split up, I'd have to thank them for that!

Lets hope they never split up though :)

I personally do not feel they are going to retire any time soon. Their music is growing more and more, and they seem happy as well.

IN answer to what would I say to them, and this would be regardless of retirement or no. The one thing I will always want to tell them is thank you.

A few years ago I was suffering from a very severe depression, and in a nutshell one song they sang, on Vh-1 one night that I happened on, saved my life. So I would tell them thank you for helping me see that I could make it.

Really nice to hear how the band have helped some of you through tough times - I hope you've all signed up to the Postcards project

I need to get access to a printer I think.

If Coldplay were gone..... I'd die :dead: !!!!

I agree with many others here: they are our life-support.

You could buy a postcard of your hometown. A lot of people are sending 2 - one bought, one homemade, but I'm not sure my imagination or my artistic skills are up to the latter

Thanks! They actually have some really lovely old fashioned ones of Tulsa at the bookstore I could pick up, and then make a homemade one too.

I am excited about the project now!! :D

Even if I just know it got there and the words, Thank you were on it it would be enough.

I don't think they'll retire next year. It's too soon. I haven't even been to one of their concerts yet. :bigcry: I'd remember how they changed my life for the better. If they retire next year, I'd say:

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! :furious3: :bigcry:

Lets just say that on what Chris Martin is saying is true and will happen..the "retirement of the band next year".

If this so happens, What would you remember Coldplay of? and if you had the chance to say anything to the band members if this "retirement" happens what would you say? to add things of what would be your opinion on Chris Martin statement of "retiring"?

I would say 'You're too early to retire.'

Kamusta??

Unfortunately, we have no emoticon that features the smilie killing itself. But if we did, I'd use it to describe how I would feel.

dddon't say that

dddon't say that

Chris Martin will announce at their website that they will either retire or disband in two weeks  :borg:  muahahahahaha
