I've always wanted to know where the name "Coldplay" came from. Is it soccer (UK football) terminology for a ball that stops and goes dead? Or does it refer to music terminology like when a song stops being played on the radio after it disappears from the Top 40 chart?

The name was borrowed from another band that broke-up. It's from an old poem called "cold play" about children playing in winter I believe.
