I've never been to one of those types :embarassed: so I don't really know. more worrying is the news report on the LCCC official site, its subject to licence. Trafford or Manchester Council had better provide the flipping licence now!

Coldplay announce Old Trafford concert

Lancashire County Cricket Club is delighted to add Coldplay to what is already a packed programme of high profile events taking place at Old Trafford next year.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground is definitely the venue of choice for world-class sport and entertainment in 2009. Next summer, people from all over the North of England will converge on Old Trafford to watch Lancashire’s exciting season of domestic cricket, five sold out Take That concerts, England v Australia in two much anticipated Twenty20 Internationals and now Coldplay add their name to the bill.

This morning on BBC Radio One, Coldplay's Chris Martin announced three stadium concerts next year, and subject to licence, the band will play Old Trafford on Saturday 12th September, 2009.

Coldplay are arguably the most successful English band of the past decade, selling in excess of 40 million albums worldwide and successfully concurring the tough US market where they are currently on tour. The band start their sold out UK Arena tour in Sheffield on 29th November, and will return next September for these three outdoor concerts in Manchester, Glasgow and London.

Lancashire’s Commercial Director Geoff Durbin said: “Around 400,000 people will be watching concerts and cricket in 2009 at Old Trafford as we cement our position as one of the most popular multi-purpose outdoor stadia in the country. In what is a tough economic climate and with missing out on a Test match next year, these concerts will provide Lancashire with vital revenue to help us achieve our cricketing and stadium development ambitions”.

They were selling tickets for the Take That Wembley gigs as seating (which is the seats all around the stadiums, most quite high up/far away) and then standing which will be on the pitch.

I assume Coldplay aren't going to be placing chairs on the pitches so I'd imagine that's how it's going.

I'd imagine the tickets will be most expensive for standing and then less as you get further away.

So. Coldplay's UK Stadium Tour Support To Come From Jay-Z

So. I'll be putting up a stall selling bottles of piss to throw then....;)

I'm not too sure excatly how it works but I think venues need a music licence of some sort. because the stadiums are generally use for sports they may either need a licence per event or a licence for the year.

other places have to do the same. G4 opened the Borders bookshop at Cheetham Hill, and they needed a licence for them to do that if they were going to sing at all.
