If we can assume that Play de Froid are to continue in this style of Revolution Francaise music, with the matching costumes (cos we all know how much Chris likes to play dress-up), what do you think a good title for the fifth album would be? Assuming that none of the songs from the Eno sessions make the next album (basically, it's not gonna be called Leftrightleftrightleft). Also, any submissions for artwork are cool. Plus, do you think they will stay in this vein and consider Album No.5 the second album of their second 'trilogy'?

I have no idea where they could go next. I love the whole revolutionary/war/classic painting feeling they created for this album; however, it's WAY too early to even assume what name for the LP could be, we don't even have any indication what the album will deal with, much less what possible songs will be included on it.

As long as it is not rushed. From all reports, they do want to release something again next year, and my only hope is that this doesn't impede the quality.

 

Going on the basis of artwork/styles, they have themed their albums quite well over the years, so I can't imagine anything to do with the military look.

 

Perhaps something more astronomical? With Lhuna as a possible track? Who knows. It's just so far away, but EMI will be pressuring Coldplay for another release next year so that they can remain in business...

Eugh, there's no effort in that. And no theme. All of their albums so far have come from a track name.

 

If they make a track named 'coldplay' that would be odd, but wicked.

I definitely agree with the fact that it might be too early to speculate, just wanted to see what the general consesnus was at this point. I like the sound of astronomical though, I can just see Chris dancing around Wembley in a tin-foil hat crooning, "Oh, they toook my baby to the Mooon!"

Quick OT question: what's the deal with A Spell a Rebel Yell, I mean, everyone raves about it, found a download, sounds great, but where/how exactly did it originate?

It was a b-side on the Violet Hill single. The result of some epiphany Chris had one day.

Did they all contribute to it? It's hard to hear what each member might've played..

That might be treading on X&Y's territory, though. And yeah, I would not want a rushed album, no matter how much they want to get one out by the decade's end. Maybe they could ease the pace with another EP with the still-leftover VLV tracks.

Maybe they will release a DVD with all of the viva concerts or the greatest hits with liek 5 new songs or something like that. I can hardly see them writing a full 10-12 songs from here to next christmas.

Will definitely contributed to it; Jonny might've played some soft guitar at the chorus, I can't see how Guy fit in.

You underestimate Chris' flow of creativity. Once they get together they'll already be doing new songs - and even on tour he'll think of new ones.

Yeh Chris will always be coming up with ideas ......he's a song writer, he'll be inspired 24/7. There was this story about how he wrote 'what if' when he couldn't sleep one night.

 

True song writers in a way work 24/7 imo anyway. Its all about inspiration - can come anytime - from anything.

 

I reckon new album end of 2009, followed by Greatest Hits in 2010 (with a glastonbury performance)

i think there's no discussion, Chris has said in many interviews that they are releasing their best album ever in december 31, 2009

 

and i'm sure chris can write 30 or more songs in 6 months!
