Guest Grace
i talk to jenn and grace from here absolutely loads but rarely on this forum' date=' because it clutters it and it's unnecessary 'cause we're both on msn.[/quote'] annie! we were mentioned! yay! nah, today's the first day i'm back on coldplaying because i haven't found the time to log on and i don't think things have changed here a lot. the lounge was quite a trashed place before. and i think it's unfair to blame the newbies. it's obvious that this forum's going to get more and more members as soon as coldplay release a new record, but it doesn't mean they're flooding the board with useless thread. i guess everybody's just got to adjust to new situations and you cannot say that "oldies" are the better users who never post any crap. that's quite rude, actually. chuck kottke
Hey, we "oldies" never post useless crap!:laugh3: It's not like we're SPAMMERS or something?!:P SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAMITTY SPAM, SPAMITTY SPAM.. (one cannot help it - someone has to break the seriousness here..) Anyhow, I concur with Jack as well. But the mods should do more to instruct the new members in the fine art of jujitsu.. The Mad Hatter
I wasn't exactly blaming new people for anything, I just said that it was weird to me because a lot of people I used to talk to aren't here anymore. So don't take what I said the wrong way. :uhoh:

strawberryswinger
ok, i've been here just for about a month, maybe im not the right person to post here, but i feel like saying something. these late days it seems there's too many worry focused on what we want this to be, what's the point of the lounge, what's the point of every single thread here, who's a nice person, who's a spammer, what is spam, who should be fucked off (and sorry for the expression), what times are or were better... oh come on, i think the good point here is that everyone can create a thread, maybe a thread about a topic, or maybe a thread for talking with the ones you like.. because, correct me if i'm wrong, the main point of the lounge is 'to have a natter', so why talking and joking has become a bad thing? if you wanna discuss the meaning of life and not joke about the size of your palm or about simple food, just make a threaad! and i can't understand why do you blame izzy for starting a thread focused on a few people, because you can join anytime you want, i mean, i tried to join being an unknown person here and nobody has banned my presence in the thread, they just welcomed me in a lovely way, and im very happy with that! maybe you just want a better lounge, but hating single threads, banning the way people acts and putting limits it's not the way! saying you'll leave this place until it's "better" it's not the way! stopping spam is a good idea, stopping this wonderful freedom is a bad idea. coldplaying rocks my world, i don't want this kind of things to get worse. just my word, have a nice day. I didn't mean or hint that it was the new members who were causing these problems, because these name threads and conversation threads have been here for as long as I have, and that's quite a while. I just personally think that The Lounge should be about real conversation, or cool things that everyone can talk about or be a part of. It's like, if I create a thread for people to put tshirts on their heads and act like ninjas, everyone can do it. As much as these people don't mean to clutter the Lounge with their conversation threads, they do. Because there's so many groups formed on an online messageboard that they just tend to dominate certain threads and because of that the conversation goes a certain way. Once that happens, not everyone can reply and a lot of the time, if they do, their posts are just looked over in favour of someone else.

I don't remember once saying that I hate people who make threads for themselves, or people who make threads for groups of people to socialise in. I think these are great, and make the lounge more friendly. What I do object to is when you get a few people who feel it essential to post in every single thread about absolutely nothing, or posting purely to get a negative reaction against themselves. Half a year ago this never happened. But recently I can think of half a dozen members who have started doing this. Maybe they're new here, maybe they've been here a while. Thats irrelevant. Its when people are abusive, threatening, unfair or just generally annoying to everyone else on here. Surely I'm not the only person who has noticed this, so I'm not trying to be a hero or anything, I'm just saying how I feel this place has changed, and how I don't feel part of it anymore. And I felt it necessary to defend my original post, seeing as how people have started taking it out of context.
Jack
That's what happens everywhere. It all comes down to choice. So stop whingeing or go elsewhere.:smug: How is that fucking whingeing? Have you read any of this topic? Someone else was whingeing. I said if you're going to complain, do something to stop it if you feel it's a problem. I said I'd try and do it myself and I created a couple of threads that were intended to be decent intellectual conversation. Now I can't come here and make my opinion heard without being labelled someone who's complaining? Seriously Mark for someone as prominent on this forum as you, I'd expect you were at least a bit useful.

Constantly swearing, accusing other members of being racist, being generally unpleasant and vile... And this particular member feels the need to expand beyond the lounge as well, spamming the rest of the board. Its inappropriate and not welcomed on a public board. I didn't mention him in this thread or on this subject once... I never said he was the problem. I never even mentioned his name. I even said that I didn't think it was necessarily new posters that were the problem at all. Can you even read? If others feel the need to complain about him, then it's their choice.;) Yeah, but 10 minutes ago you said: So stop whingeing or go elsewhere. How can you say that if they want to complain, they can, so soon after telling me to "stop whingeing or go elsewhere"?
