Get On Your Boots is pretty good I guess, but I don't know, Violet Hill is just a lot more memorable. In nearly every way, in fact - the melody, the lyrics. But I do like the new single, its just not brilliant. Having said that, Violet Hill took me a few listens to really get into it. I do think U2 has a lot better songs on the album that we have yet to hear though, so I'm still not too worried about their new album being disappointing.

With "VH" Coldplay pushed new boundaries as artist. They tried something relatively new to them. But U2 just seems like a bunch of ideas compressed in to one. They could have definitely have done way better.

i agree with briggs, you got to give the song time to grow on you. at first i didn't like violet hill but it grew on me.

same will probably be for get on your boots.

I am a huge U2 fan, but to be honest, if I compare these two songs "Violet Hill" wins hands down.

Oh my gosh, I've loved U2 since I was 9 years old (that adds up to 20 years) and I've never hated a song so much as I hate "Get On Your Boots".

 

Having said that, I don't want to compare the two songs, especially since I'm not crazy about "Violet Hill" either (though I do like it, just not as much as the rest of the CD).

not a big fan of U2 and the new song isn't all that good considering they've been away for a while. So, Violet hill for me!!!

mmm I don't get this thread, you can't compare both bands.. U2 is being a band for so many more years than coldplay, which means more experience and more time to improve their sound... coldplay is still a new band compared to them
