To me, pop band = girl band/boy band (like NSync, Backstreet Boys, Pussycat Dolls). Their music is mostly synthesized, they have group dance moves, and the concerts are mostly lip-synced.

 

Coldplay would NEVER fit the mod of "pop band" to me. But, I sort of agree with what Chris Martin said during one of their acceptance speeches at the Grammy's. They're not exactly rock...more like limestone. ;D
