The tall guy is Ed and he is one of the guitarists. He really adds some of the background ambient kind of effects, but also uses instruments like Ebow, and other foot pedals/sequencer type things. (If you want to get a clearer picture, take a look at their From the Basement peformance on youtube, it really shows what each member does quite well cause you can see everyone clearly rather than fan shot video @ a concert).

 

As for Phil (drummer), it's actually a joke on atease about the purple shirt. People joke that Phil is poor and cannot afford any other shirt... lol.
