March 9, 200917 yr Up & Monsters vs. Aliens look rather good, two films to see in the cinema. But I wish there was a 3D cinema around here to watch the films in 3D
March 13, 200917 yr Monsters & Aliens is Dreamworks, who in my dead-honest opinion, is nowhere near Pixar quality in general. Naturally, I'm looking very forward to "Up!" As far as I'm concerned, Pixar has hit nine home runs by this point, so here's hoping for that solid #10. That said, it's gonna be really, really tough to match WALL-E's quality. Then again, I also said it would be tough for WALL-E to beat Ratatouille...
March 15, 200917 yr May 19th for North America, but according to Wikipedia (who I'd take with a grain of salt), not until October for Europe.
May 30, 200917 yr Okay, so this sucker's out now. Haven't seen it yet, but it's gotten rave reviews on the level of Ratatouille and WALL-E. It's also supposed to be a tearjerker.
May 30, 200917 yr I saw it last night. A beautiful, awesome, great movie. Highly recommend it! Also Pixar made a little short film that goes before it, which was just great. I felt like a kid again.
May 30, 200917 yr Pixar are legendary for doing short films in front of the main pictures, plus another short-film on the DVD. Almost makes it worthwhile buying the DVD.
May 30, 200917 yr It's gotten amazing reviews so far; I really want to see it! I might go tonight. :nice:
May 31, 200917 yr I think that one might be coming here in a few months, which is a real pain in the ass, I already had to wait 1-2 months to see WALL-E when it first came out in USA
May 31, 200917 yr Disney & Pixar own... I saw Wall-E for the first time this morning and it was genius
June 1, 200917 yr Just saw it. It wasn't the funniest Pixar movie, nor was it the most innovative, but hot damn, its storytelling was among the deepest I've ever seen for an animated film. The kids will love this, but the adults might pick up on some deep emotional material that the kids won't. ;) I actually didn't care for the short at the beginning, though. 2010 brings us Toy Story 3, believe it or not. Don't believe me? There's now a trailer out.
June 6, 200917 yr I actually didn't care for the short at the beginning, though. I personally think the short was better than the movie. :uhoh: I'd probably give it a 7/10. I loved the basic storyline, I really did, and I thought it was touching and hilarious at the same time. But there was something I thought didn't fit- I'm not sure exactly what, but it had to do with the dogs. I can't really put my finger on it though. I guess I was just expecting a lot from all the great reviews I've seen, and I was also expecting something that was really classic Pixar-esque. This seemed like it had a little too much "new Disney" in it. Buuuut... I think it's one of those movies you have to see again to like even more. And some parts were absolutely fantastic. Carl and Russel (and Kevin and Doug ) were brilliant characters, I just didn't love the whole talking dog thing. It kind of dragged on.
June 6, 200917 yr You know, that's actually the one complaint I'm seeing in multiple reviews for this movie. I see two main reasons for the talking dogs - A) Comic relief. Many of the movie's laughs came from Doug, and they acted as a nice reprieve from a story that was otherwise surprisingly deep and serious. B) The kids. As just mentioned, the story is really down-to-earth for a family friendly movie, but in the end, it still has to appeal as a family friendly movie. This is where the more "Disney" side breaks through and personifies stuff. Notice how even the ads for the movie advertise Doug a lot.
June 7, 200917 yr ^Really? Well, at least there are people who get what I'm talking about! But, the more I think about the movie, the more I want to see it again. I think one main reason why it didn't live up to my expectations is because I saw it with a friend who didn't really want to see it, and I was trying to watch the movie and make sure she wasn't too bored at the same time. So I kept trying to look at the movie through her eyes, and I didn't get to fully appreciate it. But I think I might see it again, and see if that changes my opinion a little.
