I'm learning Japanese. I'm going to see Star Trek possibly this weekend.

Cool. I lived in Japan when I was 5. I'm working on Danish. Hej. Hvordan har du et? I don't know that much. And Star Trek was amazing. :)

Really? How much Japanese do you know?

Not that much really. I can understand some of the characters. Like Hello and Spring Has Come. And can write them out. A few sentences, I could write besides those. And I can sing in Japanese song I've learned.

  • Author

Actually we haven't even learned more than maybe two dozen kanji XD

Defintely not Hello, oddly. And I do know Spring, but not the Has Come part.

Oh are you in a class? I figured you were learning it alone. And really? That's odd. Japanese is very hard to learn, as I'm sure you know. (What can you say?)

So is Danish, though I think hardest for me now is Farsi. But because I have persian friends it's not that hard. All I can say though in farsi is Man Dooset Daram and some translated song lyrics. I'm learning Danish fast though.

I'm in a first-year freshman high school course for Japanese :D

I can... let's see, introduce myself, talk about the weather, count, say the date, talk about hobbies, word process, order a meal, say my likes and dislikes, answer the phone correctly (moshi moshi!! :D) name about two dozen school-related items (ペンですよ!XD) ask to go to the bathroom / get a drink, ask for stuff, ask / tell ages, tell time, write about 10 basic verb kanji, talk about colors, tell my so-called "daily schedule," use frequency words, ask how much something costs, chatter about family / pets, and talk about nationalities / countries / languages. Really, not that much beyond basic helpful phrases :sweatdrop: I can't really make a creative sentance to speak of, because we aren't learning proper grammar until next year :shifty:

Haha! That's still impressive. What made you wanna take Japanese?

:inquisitive:

I'm not actually totally sure. My school offers... let's see, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese... and ESL, and maybe one other I'm forgetting. Now no offence to Spanish, but EVERYBODY takes it and that's just boring -- French is just useless, and I never really felt like taking German. Plus, Chinese would've been VERY usefull, cuz China's going to be really big when I'm an adult and everything -- but I was really interested in Japanese cuz I was trying to learn some of it online, and it was very complicated and interesting :nice: Plus if you can understand written Japanese, you can basically grasp written Chinese anyway -- so I guess it's sort of a two-for-one deal. Or maybe more like a one-and-a-half-for-one deal.

Yeah, that's cuz your school isn't as CULTURALLY RELEVANT as mine, yo, so there.

 :mean:  thuggin at my culturally relevant school.

We should get a motto. And it should be "I will SHANK you."

nobody will understand that hahaha

  • Author

ok I'll explain it then I'm going to bed cuz I have swim practice in the morning.

So everybody at my school is always saying stuff like "I will SHANK you" to each other as a joke. So I think it should be the school's motto. 'Cept that's inappropriate for a learning environment, apparently.

I was going to make a t-shirt that said that and then wear it to school one day but I asked the vice principal ahead of time before I actually made it and he said, "uh no sorry but that's innapropriate for a learning environment and I'm afraid I'd have to make you go home if you wore it." And if I wore it anywhere else nobody would understand it, so :(

There are spiders all over our house/apt. I've seen two in the last three days. One BIG and the other a teeny tiny baby one. My roomie just saw another one but it was small not teeny. Omg...
