But then one cannot compare the two,as coldplay is a rock band(almost)..and metallica are a hard rock band/some tracks are thrash metal,they actually mostly belong in the thrash metal genre,so completely different from coldplay.

However, as I'm not a huge fan of metal, I would have to pick Coldplay. I'm not saying anyone's better, so much as what I personally prefer.
