I wonder...

Featured Replies

I don't know if there's already a thread like this, it's kind of pointless too, but...

I was talking to my friend and she said "I wonder if the world is really going to end in 2012 " So I just started to think about all the stuff I'm not completely sure about,so here they are:

I wonder if when coldplay retire this forum is going to die (:()

I wonder when coldplay will retire ( better be never :P)

I wonder if the band members have an account here and just pretending to be somebody else or maybe they just check the forum in general once in a while

I wonder who is going to win the Stanley Cup this season

^ no I don't really care about that, I wonder when the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup :P

I wonder how the Blue Jays are going to do this season

I wonder if the guys were really drunk when they recorded Goldrush (because it sure sounds like it :dozey:)

I wonder how well will I do at school this year

I wonder how tall Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy are in real life

I wonder if the Oracle on coldplay.com is a woman or a man and what he/she look like

& finally

I wonder if anyone will even reply to this :P

So the point is just write stuff you wonder about, and if you can answer other people's wonders or if that evenmakes sence :P

Uhh wow that's a lot to think about...

But I know that Chris is 6'2" and Guy is 5'10". I'm 5'2" so I wonder if I have to climb a ladder if I want an autograph from them!

Hahah I know this is stupid but your question about the Oracle reminds me of this Christmas special on Deal or No Deal a couple of years back where this contestant figures out the actual number of the banker and he gets pissed off. :P

I replied to this. Now gimme a cookie. :dozey:

Chris is tall

So there was a question to the oracle about if 42 is the answer to everything and he/she said no for example it's not the number of girls I kissed, so one would think it's man that's what I did too, but what if it's a lesbian woman :laugh3:

& yay thanks for replying lol here you go

Hahah. I don't think the Oracle is a lesbian...*shifty eyes*

OMG thanks! *eats cookie like a pig*

@EDIT: Oh sorry I'm 5'1". But I think that's because I'm the youngest person here...is there anyone here younger than 13? :\

:O :O :O

Really?

Wow thanks for the info!

I am the oracle, but don't tell anyone, (shhhh)

and yes, in 2012, Huitzilopochtli and Kukulcan will return to claim their reign over us, simple mortals, and the maya and aztec emperors will come back to life and rebuild the great Tenochtitlan, with a temple that will be the greatest thing on the whole universe

...I lost you after 'in 2012'.

:laugh3:

haha, i can't believe ppl actually believe that the world will end in 2012. a major sign of the day of judgement is that immediately before the world ends, there will be total world peace. and that's not happening for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time, way way way after any of our lifetimes

when i read this i immediately thought of "these are things that i don't understand"

these are things i don't understand:

How infinite is space, and who decides your fate

Why everything will dissolve into sand

How to avoid defeat, when truth and fiction meet

Why nothing ever turns out as you plan

but then i just remember:

i live, but i love this life

2000 everyone thought was the "doomsday" year, and that never happened. So, I'm betting that we'll be here on Earth (we humans) and much of the life currently here for another several million years, give or take a few million. That gives us time to build the Tenochtitlan temple to honor the Aztec & Mayan Gods.;)

It's all up to the sun, our solar soul.:sunny:

I think it's more up to us and the way we use water and energy :(

I agree.

2012 is when the Mayan Calendar ends, right? Yo no me quiero morir!!! I just make it out of High School!!!!!!!!!!

We're smart enough, strong enough, and able to leap small coffee tables in a single bound!

I'm convinced it's all an application of common sense to everyday problems (which civilizations have blown past many a time, but we're not going to repeat Easter Island's troubles.. me hopes at least!).

So here's my solution:

(1.) get efficient fast. 95% is being needlessly wasted - we can have our cool, hot, and anything in-between without the waste.

(2.) Pump sea-water and use solar desalination to make plenty of fresh water, to irrigate the dry regions of the globe so we'll have plenty of food & energy crops.

(3,) Build sea-walls around major cities if and when the sea levels rise (The Netherlands does it, and so can coastal cities)

(4.) Switch to a solar, wind, geothermal, biomass economy.

(5.) Switch to a common elements economy - more silicon, iron, aluminum, magnesium, and earth-friendly plastics & composites.

(6.) Make better durable goods - that recycle easier, are safer to make, use less resources, and are of higher quality.

(7.) Establish better checks and balances

(8.) Intervene if need be (we might have to seed the atmosphere with reflective dusts to reduce the climate acceleration, because if we clean up all the emissions, then more sunlight gets through, the hotter it gets. Also, we may have to 'seed' the oceans with ground rock powders (mineral nutrients) to grow more ocean life, and thus allow the oceans to absorb more CO2)

(9.) recycle nuclear waste, and if not retrievable, then perhaps deposit it safely in a subduction zone on the ocean floor.

(10.) Create a more humane world.

I'm not so sure about that 2012 thing. Has anyone ever thought that maybe they all died out by the time they got to that date, and therefore couldn't continue with their calendar?

Everyone's got a doomsday thing in their culture's religion. Methinks it's just a way of explaining the natural phenomenon which shake us all to our cores at times.

Anyhow, while the economy continues to fall (talk about doomsday!), the demand for metals is rising globally, and the rate of decline is lessening.Survey shows downturn may be ebbing - Stocks & economy- msnbc.com

ah, i'm only 12 :laugh3: :laugh3:

Don't worry, we have hope. One day we both will grow up and be cool :laugh3:
