Radiohead week: The Bends

Featured Replies

Yeah I have and it ain't bad, but after OK Computer they started being all pretentious, thinking they were the best when they clearly weren't. They missed a great opportunity to be absolutely mega like U2 and they missed the boat with the downright awful, boring Kid A. It's a shame as they're talented but they are so far up their own arses these days.

Kid A was an amazing album, and one of the defining albums of this decade. Radiohead has always been moving in different directions and if you get a chance to listen to their albums, not one album is the same as the other. Honestly I'd rather listen to a band that changes their sound up frequently (Beck, Beatles), then bands that stay in the same niche most of their career.

Also Radiohead didn't want to become a mega success. If you watch Meeting People is Easy, they got pretty tired quickly of touring, and dealing with the media. That's what big acts have to deal with all of that time. It actually tired the band out so much that they were very close to disbandening. I think when you mention Kid A being boring I think that you are getting it confused with it being difficult to get into at first. For me it took quite some time to get into, because it's not as easy a first listen to as say The Bends.

watching race cars go aroud in circles is exciting too!!!!!

The Bends wasn't even the greatest album that year. Everyone know s it was Morning Glory by Oasis. Everbody seems to own a copy of that album but I don't know anyone who has The Bends. Radiohead are overrated, pretentious, snobbish suicidal shit!

You'd need friends to know anybody who owns the Bends.

P.S. Oasis are has beens.

Oasis comment: ouch.

Everybody I know (Coldplayers aside) who owns Oasis albums owns The Bends.

But maybe that's because I have only one musically literate friend.... and I made her get every Radiohead album.
