Can't be arsed reading all of this thread but is the basic argument that people like 'pop music' as long as the artist writes the music themself?

I don't agree.

1. She is a pop artist. Whether it has been Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, or Elton John, an over-the-top image is part of what they are presenting. Keep in mind, they are putting forth an image as part of their total package. An odd or bizarre image doesn't have to detract from one's music. I like it; it makes her more interesting.

2. I don't care how difficult it is to write a particular song. All I care about is whether I like it or not. There are times I want to listen to boundary pushing, intellectual music, and there are times I want to listen to simple pop music. And there is a knack to writing good pop music. I know because I've heard plenty of bad pop songs.

Well said! And I agree 100%

Producer.

Ah. Thank you!

No, this thread is here to diss Lady Gaga.

The difference is that all those others you have mentioned only "weirded out" after establishing themselves on the pop scene, whereas Lady Gargoyle has actually based her career on her image rather than her music.

Also, whatever happened to them ultimately, they all made great songs in their time.

I very much doubt Lady Gargoyle will.:dozey:

I don't know. I don't even care whether she writes her own songs or not. It makes no difference to me. Again, all I care about is what I like. I don't over-intellectualize the process. No, I am not looking to put her in the song writing hall of fame if that is what people are asking. Yes, I do like to play some of her songs loud when I am care free and driving by the beach on a sunny day.

But she's already made better songs than Prince, in my opinion. Couldn't stand him.

i am so sorry to hear that

that reminds me of when i read an interview with Piers Morgan and he said he prefers America because if you drive down the street with the top down listening to guns and roses nobody shouts '****'.

edit, wow the 'c' word is banned. that sucks

But she's already made better songs than Prince, in my opinion. Couldn't stand him.

Not that I'm his greatest fan or anything like that, but Prince was actually a proper musician, and his live performances are "legendary".

I have all her songs on my iPod, and I blast them. I'm not ashamed to say that, and there's nothing wrong with it.

yeah i don't like prince at all, in fact he annoys me, but to say that gaga has surpassed him is shameful. it's ok though, you can apologise and i'll forgive you.

And who's to say Gaga's aren't? Emma went to one of her shows and said she put on an amazing performance.

i know but you like muse

emma was wrong

Her career is not based on her image. Her image is just her style. That's like saying Doc Severinsen based his career on his wild outfits, not his trumpet. It's just not true.

YOU OUGHT TO BOW YOUR HEAD IN SHAME! :whip:

i know but you like muse

That has absolutely nothing to do with Lady Gaga. Two completely different genres. I have Mozart on my iPod too, want to comment on that?

Have you seen her live?

yes and i am comfortable in saying next time i would rather see her dead

IMMA LISTENING TO TEETH AND I'M PROUD!

don't take what i say too seriously.

but kudos on the mozart, how much you got? requiem lacrymosa is one of the best songs ever written.

Maybe so, but I bet there was a lot of lip-syncing/voice manipulation and "backtracking" going on.

Same goes for Madonna.:dozey:

Not too much. I like that one too, and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. I'm more of a Dvorak fan

^ I would have no interest in seeing Gaga live. Those type of shows don't appeal to me.

Same. I'm not a big fan of seeing singers live, I'd rather see bands.
