Upgrades?

Featured Replies

localola86 -Hope the tote turns out well!! I just bought a pink and black one from Michaels and wrote VIVA COLDPLAY in red and gold paint :) Seemed to have done the trick!

I brought posterboard and markers with me to the venue and my friends and I decorated it right before the rain came, and then it got destroyed :( THe roadie still appreciated it though, which was nice!

My sister loves Michaels!

There's one close to my house, I should see what's in store...

I should be able to do that

I'm not as crafty as my sis, but I can paint

Hahaha yes, that was me! :nice: While we were hiding out from the rain the roadie in charge of lighting, idk her name, but she came up to us, introduced herself, complemented our homemade goodies :P and offered us the upgrades! then she left to find other people. She ended up giving upgrades for the whole first 2 rows, at least in our section.

Oh and we also had a poster  So what I have to say is definitely make yourself be noticed with what you wear etc and may the Coldplay karma be with you!!

Question. Exactly how EARLY did you arrive before showtime? How many hours was it before showtime when she offered you the upgrades??

to be honest with you, at least for me and my friend, we didn't arrive until 7:30-ish, right when the opening act was performing. they were still giving away upgrades until 8-8:15...but I think it varies with each show and that we got really lucky lol. my best bet is to arrive there as early as u can :)

hahah! that's exactly how my friend and I reacted as the roadie escorted us to the floor! we giggled and squealed like crazy once we got to our seats...everyone around looked at the both of us as if were were insane :laugh3: i've never been that close and the image of seeing the guys and stage so near you is really surreal and unexplainable!

haha yeah same! After we got the upgrades we were still underneath the stadium because of the rain and everyone around was looking at us so I didn't completely spazz out until we found our new seats, then I flipped out!!

It really is completely surreal, even though I was off to the side I couldn't believe how CLOSE i was to COLDPLAY!!! I don't think I'll ever be that close again! Being a few feet away from the boys on stage after anticipating for so long, there's nothing like it!

localola86 - Yes, Michaels is the best! Good luck with your totee :nice:

Well we got there around 5:30 and got the upgrades at like 7 as everyone was waiting underneath the bleachers for the rain to stop! The show itself didnt start until probably 8:30. But yeah, the roadie was walking around while we were all waiting and she was searching for people to upgrade!

I almost got upgraded at the Hershey show. The girl said that she couldn't upgrade us because I was with my 5yr old daughter and Chris does not like kids being in the front because of how loud it is. It made perfect sense (was still a little heartbreaking though). I made up for it and was front row last night and got a setlist, so my coldplay kharma came around. Anyway, if you can find the "roadies do it in the dark" sign thread then you will see the girl who does it. she is in the front holding a camera. I recognized her from the picture at the show which is how I knew to ask her. Good luck!

Yaaay I'm so happy to hear that!! Good for you

^^ thanks! Hershey must have been awesome. Chris was so into that show!

I got it done. Call Ticketmaster. Act Mad. Tell them you were just on the phone with a supervisor getting ready to do the ticket exchange when the call dropped. Make sure you tell them that its a long story and the first supervisor did it. When they say ticketmasters policy is no exchanges, say i know the policy but the supervisor was in the process of getting them exchanged. worked for me.

For Coldplay, I would try this. But I bought my tickets with Live Nation :uhoh:

Very important-- if you see a roadie giving out upgrades, DO NOT ASK THEM FOR AN UPGRADE!! We made this mistake last weekend. We chatted with the roadie for a minute and then there was an awkward silence and we asked "So... any chance we could have one of those upgrades?" and she was said she was hoping we wouldn't ask because she's not allowed to give them to people who ask for them! So... go and chat with the roadie if you want, but DO NOT ask outright if they're giving away upgrades. I'm still thinking about this and it's making me all :bigcry:

@ Swallowedinsea- thanks for the warning, but I'm so sorry! That sucks!

The first show I was hoping to be upgraded for is in a couple of weeks, and it's in an arena... wasn't sure if I should loiter on the main arena level or hang-out looking sad way up high... any thoughts, anyone?

Oh no, definitely stay in your seats. They are looking for people with the cheap seats who seem like they'd be big fans who deserve front row!

^^@jenflor: yeah, I agree. Stay in your seats. The roadies tend to venture in the nosebleeds and look for the dedicated and deserving fans :)

It's okay... I had front row the night before so I can't really complain. :P

haha awesome! front row is def. the place to be...it's amazing!

Actually, that makes total sense! ;)

The only problem is that my seat is not cheap, nor far away :(

By the way people, I was looking over the Roadies thread again.

Can't wait to play the "guess the roadie's name" while waiting for the concert to begin

@SwallowedInSea- I guess I won't feel too sorry for you, then, since you'd already had front row! :)

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I'd love to be upgraded, if possible, but if not, I'll just have to be content with seeing them 3 times this summer! :) I'll have fun even if I'm waayyy up high and waaaayyyyyy far back!

Oh yeah, I've got nothing to complain about. In fact the show I was talking about there (Hershey) I hadn't planned on going to at all until that afternoon so it was lucky I was there at all!

ok so quick question, to whomever. i read the bit where it would be advisable to NOT ask a roadie for upgrades, but then what about the mother who asked the roadie for an upgrade but didn't get it b/c of her daughter?

and since they are playing amphitheaters, should i get a ticket on the lawn? since in areans they went to nosebleed seats....
