I've been listening to their new album on the Rolling Stone site. It bugs me that Dougy's voice changes from song to song.

I'm loving this album! I really think it's pretty amazing.

 

It took me awhile to get into Conditions. It was only after I saw them live at Laneway a year later that I had a new appreciation for Conditions.

 

Not for this one though. Pretty much loved it right off the bat.

 

My favs so far are:

The Sea is Calling

Miracle - which I think it's the best song on the album. It's truly amazing.

This Isn't Happiness

Dreams

I"m Gonna Wait

 

The others are good too but those songs are a stand out for me. I think Need Your Love is the weakest song on the album.

Acoustic version of Need Your Love is better imo.

The album's settled in more and I can't say I'm enjoying this as much as the debut. A couple great tracks like "The Sea Is Calling" and "Miracle", a couple outright terrible songs like "Where Do We Go From Here", and half the tracks are just kinda middling. There's nothing anywhere as good as "Science of Fear" or "Resurrection" on here.

That sounds disapppointing, especially seeing how "Resurrection" is my fave Temper Trap song. :\ I haven't listened to the album yet, though, so I'll wait until then to make my own judgments. I think I might make some time tonight to do that.

It was a frustrating experience for me. It was like a roller coaster ride, with ups and downs. Some tracks are really good. Others are downright awful. (Don't get me started on "Need Your Love." UGH.) Also, I agree with what Shred (Sorry, don't know your IRL name.) said about Dougy's voice. It changes in certain songs. I think that's why I don't like some of the songs on it, really. On the better songs, he maintains the quality he had on "Conditions." On some of the other ones, though, he sounds more shouty. I don't understand why he would change his voice like that, especially since it was fine the way it was.

 

Something I found annoying as well was how the bonus tracks sounded better than some of the album tracks. WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT THOSE ON THE STANDARD EDITION? It drives me crazy when artists do that.

 

But yeah. It has its highlights, but I can't help but be a little bit disappointed. :shrug:

I've been stuck on this new album for the past 2 weeks now. In my opinion, this is their best work to date. London's Burning, Trembling Hands, Miracle, Where Do We Go From Here and Rabbit Hole are some of the best songs I've heard in a very long while. Trembling Hands is my new favorite song now. Although I could understand why some Temper Trap fans would dislike it. It's VERY different from Conditions, and it's throwing pop and electronic into it aswell. One thing's for sure, though. The artwork surrounding the album is simply amazing. Simple images of artificial colored gas spreading through air will be stuck in my head for a long time, especially after watching the Rabbit Hole video.

I actually thought that the bonus tracks weren't as good as the standard ones. :laugh3:

Really? I love the bonus tracks. I think "Everybody Leaves in the End" is my fave track off the entire thing. :heart:

I hated everything about the singles, but I might give the full thing a go.
