American tabloids already refer to Barack Obama as 'Bam'.

Now it appears they are right.

Though many criticised have criticised him for being potentially soft on America's enemies, Mr Obama has proved that when he's provoked, he can be merciless.

See video of the president swatting the fly below

President Barack Obama, left, takes aim at a fly during a TV interview... and right, 'Bam' smacks the fly dead in one blow

The president was being interviewed by American TV news channel CNBC yesterday when he was annoyed by a persistent fly.

The tiny creature buzzed about his head, refusing to leave even when Mr Obama tried to wave it away, saying: 'Get out of here'.

That was the fly's first warning. When it continued to provoke the president, his focus instantly switched from interview to insect.

Beaming a death stare at the creature, he waited for it to settle - then put his hand up and smacked it dead in one try.

Without missing a beat, he turned back to CNBC correspondent John Harwood and said: 'Now where were we.'

But on seeing Mr Harwood's look of astonishment, the president couldn't resist a few more seconds of gloating.

'That was pretty impressive, wasn't it?' he said with a sudden grin. 'I got the sucker.'

The camera crew was still rolling in the East Room of the White House. Mr Obama pointed to the vanquished insect on the floor and said, 'You want to film that?'

CNBC did. That fly is history.

I love Dos Equis...and their commercials.

I hear Saffire once cured Narcolepsy...just by walking into a room.

You should see my trick shots. To the billiards room! And I'll need a volunteer.
