That is an interesting thought Bryce

I'm not gonna join this conversation... This or politics count Ivet out

I'm not trying to argue, I was just pointing out that would he said could be considered highly offensive, and he should watch his mouth. If he wants to be atheist I'm not going to stop him.

If there is an omnipotent God, is it possible he could make a rock so heavy he couldn't lift?

I love paradoxes. If he could, he wouldn't be omnipotent, If he couldn't, that's obvious.

I'm serious...

It's just not something EVERYONE's gonna agree on...

like we agree on everything else...?

See, this thread here is a prime example of why people shouldn't discuss religion. It's not a matter of it being controversial. It's a matter of people being incapable of talking about such a topic without being mature about it. People say offensive things, and people get offended at something which they shouldn't get offended about, particularly if their beliefs in what they believe in are that strong. Perhaps a better way of putting it is that people don't really know the concept of how to agree to disagree in a civil manner. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I, just like everyone else here, am just saying what I think.

Anyway, to answer the question, I personally dislike organized religion and therefore don't practice it. I particularly dislike people who are more devout in their religion than they probably should be. There are two types of these people. There are those who believe that anything other than their religion is wrong and are therefore not going to Heaven (or, in some cases, going to Hell). My parents would be a moderate example of this type of person. I don't like these people because they act like they're above everyone else, and they don't accept people of other faiths very well. Or so it seems, from my personal experience. The other type consists of those who are overly concerned about the others that don't practice their said religion, and in turn they try to "help" them. These people annoy me because by trying to "help" you, they're implying that they think you're wrong and they won't be happy with you until you convert to what they want. Again, this is from personal experience.

Personally, I don't see why what religion you are should matter. Why can't being a good, honest, charitable, morally sound human being be enough? Shouldn't being a good person be the main criterion for where and when people go after death? I shouldn't not be allowed in Heaven because I don't believe in God or Allah or Buddha or whatever people think rules the upper domain. I don't think that's right.

I'm sorry about this really long post. This subject has been a thorn in my side for a while now, and I don't talk about this stuff often.

If there is an omnipotent God, is it possible he could make a rock so heavy he couldn't lift?

I love that question, once had a discussion with my brother about it, and he proposed that God invents the rock, and then lifts it.

not at all, but i dont mind if others are.

I am a Catholic but I'm not going to go around and say that all other religions are wrong. That's just stupid. For all I know, they could be.

Like whether your gay or not, its just a choice you make for you that no one else should have a problem with.

A lot of people find that highly offensive. Just because you don't agree with someone's beliefs doesn't mean you should call them "fairy tales" you ignorant prick.

How is believing a man can magically come back from the dead any different than a fairy tale?

And you calling me a prick after I expressed my view makes you a complete hypocrite.

I didn't try to press my view on anyone, or offend people. You did. You made fun of some 2 billion people in the world. I can call you a prick if I want to.

You know, if no one was allowed to make jokes that hyper-sensitive people call "offensive", this world would be a very dull place. Learn to laugh at yourself and then come tell me how to talk about people.

How am I hypersensitive? Your statement was offensive. I'm not crying over it, I was just pointing out that you should watch what you say.

Good one, fella.

I'm with you on this one.
