OK. This is why we don't speak of religion. Everyone's bound to argue...

As i said, im nor religious, but i believe in God, because thats what makes me feel good, that fits my life style... some other people decides to live in caves or believe in Buddha... but thats because they feel that is helping them somehow... i respect that... so making a thread about this kind of subjects is not big deal :dozey:

And she is not an idiot :nice:

I am a Catholic but I'm not going to go around and say that all other religions are wrong. That's just stupid. For all I know, they could be.

I hate that

To be honest, anyone who has a problem with someone believing in a personal God separate from religion is just a dickhead.

I do believe in God, and i have my reasons why to, and i won't explain them (again).

That doesn't mean that i do accept everything that happen with the religion i've been raised in, i went to periods of strong opposition to certian things as i still do at times.

I've been raised as Christian Catholic, been baptised and did first communion, but i don't think we were so religious as going to church each sunday, i've been free in that point, just we had some concepts on our daily routine, as be kind with people, respect old people..., i didn't do confirmation as all my friends do, because at the time i was critical with the CC system.

One day i read the Bible (Saint Matthew... and Revelations), and i thought it was right in some their points. And i follow some the rules daily, as my main philosophy is that: "Don't do to others what you don't want to be done to you", is very basic but very useful, so i always think before i act, so i avoid unnecessary fights and all that.

Currently as i believe there is a "God" (that meaning the good side and moral part of life) there must be a "Devil" too (meaning the bad side and inmoral part of life), and it is on a constant fight which cause them a balance, and that is what causes that life have a "rhythm". (Does that make sense?)

So as to say, at times i even believe that Zeus is the real god, you know, a humanized god with good and bad temper/humour.

What we can't deny is that like it or not, Religions influence in our morals, and have been around since many centuries ago, so it have a big importance in everyone culture.

I'm alot of things...anti-religious, atheist, a humanist. I don't like the idea of religion. I think if you want to believe in god, then that's fine, but don't be shoving it down other people's throats. If you teach acceptance, be accepting of other people's decisions to follow a different religion.

I agree completely :cheesy:

I was raised as a Christian Catholic too... But i dont go to church every sunday, i havent confess in 3 years... so when i go to church i dont take communion. Im sure that i would have been diferent if i had shared more time with the right people... i guess... I mean... how can you talk about the santity of marriage and all that stuff if you are divorced cuz you cheated on your wife?

as I mentioned in another thread: i went to a catholic school... they forced me to pray and i just lost interest... sometimes religion can be a big mass of hypocrit people...

My religion teacher slept with one of my class mates... He was 29 and she was 14... He was going to be a preacher! How dare you talking about God and values??!!!

My mom was pretty sick a year ago. She didnt feel that she was doing the right things (going to the right church) so she started to go to a "Christian Chruch"... thats how they call it here... they dont believe in sants or in Virgin Marie and they only guide themself by the Gospel in the bible... The "preacher" was divorced... twice, he left their family for another woman 20 years younger than him... I mean... what the fuck is all that?

If i made a mistake please let me know.. my english is not perfect...

That's really bad.

Forcing anyone to do anything in a religion is just FAIL. You can't ever expect anyone to come back to church as an adult when you force them to do things as a child. That's why my dad isn't what you would call "religious".

Anyways I hope you realize not all Christians are like that...

I hate religions that force things upon you you dont want forced upon you, its like religious rape.

:uhoh:

I used to think about becoming Catholic, but when I got older, I realized I didn't believe that I had to go through anyone to reach God. I love saints, but when it comes to the Pope and confession, I just don't think that's necessary.

I'm a non-denominational Christian (that sounds retarded when I say it xD), but not a good one. My dad doesn't make me go to church anymore. He says it's because there's nobody my age there, but I think he just doesn't want to turn me off from Christianity. I need to find the right place to go when I'm older and more mature, I think.

i have not confessed in a church since i did first communion, that is like 13 years ago.... i do it when i pray each night, as i said i read the Bible and got my own interpretation of things, as Jesus Christ said himself, if God is everywhere there is no need to go to pray to a certain temple and on a certain time and tell that to a certain person.

that's really bad what that religion teacher did, he got punished for that? i hope he got.

i know many people is hypocrite, but not only on catholic or christian societies, there are bad people everywhere, as there are good people too.

is not easy to balance good and bad, and so judge if something is right or how right it is, you know.

christian church, it sounds evangelic to me.

well Mishelle is not easy to do in life what we believe and preach about, life is not as we plan it to be most of the times, life is just what we try it to be.

I think the fact that they forced you to pray and all that, was the worst part for you... i mean i know a lot of "religious" people who are really hypocrite, but see they are hypocrite with more other things not just that, but most of the times i simply don't care about them.

The thing is that... if you are going because your dad is making you go.. then is not real... if is not real, you are just wasting your time. And you shouldnt care who goes to church or not.. if is not personal... i dont think it worths

Yeah i know there are not hypocrit just in Christianism...

My dad says that there is more good people than bad people... So i like to think that is true...

+1

Someone should be posting some parables in this thread. I really like those.

A parable is a brief, succinct story, in prose or verse, that illustrates a moral or religious lesson.

The Good Samaritan would be a good example of a parable.
