I'm offended that you think I care.

I'm a rational empiricist, so I think my ideals are workable. But I'd never use force to implement them, I only try to convince people using logic, and hope they assent.

Fitter, happier, more productive,

comfortable,

not drinking too much,

regular exercise at the gym

(3 days a week),

getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries,

at ease,

eating well

(no more microwave dinners and saturated fats),

a patient better driver,

a safer car

(baby smiling in back seat),

sleeping well

(no bad dreams),

no paranoia,

careful to all animals

(never washing spiders down the plughole),

keep in contact with old friends

(enjoy a drink now and then),

will frequently check credit at (moral) bank (hole in the wall),

favors for favors,

fond but not in love,

charity standing orders,

on Sundays ring road supermarket

(no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants),

car wash

(also on Sundays),

no longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows

nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate,

nothing so childish - at a better pace,

slower and more calculated,

no chance of escape,

now self-employed,

concerned (but powerless),

an empowered and informed member of society

(pragmatism not idealism),

will not cry in public,

less chance of illness,

tires that grip in the wet

(shot of baby strapped in back seat),

a good memory,

still cries at a good film,

still kisses with saliva,

no longer empty and frantic like a cat tied to a stick,

that's driven into frozen winter shit

(the ability to laugh at weakness),

calm,

fitter,

healthier and more productive

a pig in a cage on antibiotics.

Epic song.

You're the man. ;)

But the point is more about the aims. So you convince people for your own benefit or to make them believe what you believe? if you are doing this for your ideals, then you are more idealist. If its for sordid motives, then more pragmatist.

And by the way, im glad that the majority chose idealists, because only idealists change the world. :D

Idealist. I am always looking on the part of life that couldn't happen. But when I imagine it, it makes me happy! :)

Well if I convince people they are free from any sort of force, then it's clearly not for my own purposes. After all, I'd be better off convincing them that I have a right to use force against them!

only idealists change the world

Right, but are they changing the world peacefully or violently?

haaha, convince me! :D

Right, but are they changing the world peacefully or violently?

I think in various ways. :D Perhaps you think that violently because we all remember our great history men, but what about all the thinkers, philosophers... or just simple people?

Aristotle is the greatest philosopher because he emphasized logical consistency.

The link in Saffire's signature is flat out brilliant. It puts it all into simple terms.

Yeah, nice one. Beautiful strong words. Im thinking right now that what would be stronger: your own belief or compulsory measures?

I'm a pragmatic idealist. I don't know how else to explain it.

If you need, here primitive descriptions:

Idealist - unrealistic and impractical; a visionary.

Pragmatist - a practical person, one who is willing to ignore his ideals to accomplish goals.

Choose one. And explain.

these definitions are terrible...

are you:

a) an idiot

b) normal

ya..... that's what an idealist represents, according to your ideal definition of pragmatism

^ So according to that...that makes me a normal idiot?

-facepalm-

lol, didn't even notice those definitions. They are extremely ridiculous and inaccurate.

Aristotle is the greatest philosopher because he emphasized logical consistency.

very cool

-facepalm-

lol i guess you are! I'm probably more of an idiot by those definitions

i'm an idealist, because I believe in a realm above humanity. But my ideals are far different from most idealists I know. I believe in ideal imperfection. There will always be necessary evils and goods. There will be rich and poor, kindness and deceit... death and life... but I'm an idealist, because I believe in the necessity of these events and realities. I believe in free will, and an ideal structure for different societies... and overarching principles that guide us to the understanding of our society
