The art, the flags, the uniforms everything was so beautiful, I'd have loved to witness it with my own eyes, it's not the same seeing it in black and white photographs.

 

This is uber geek time, but there was actually an episode of Star Trek where a guy in star command broke the rules and influenced the evolution of a planet, he made Naziism without all the bad bits, ultimately he failed though.

The is much to be impressed by with Nazism.

Rapid expansion was both impressive and necessary. Re-armament for war required more work, therefore unemployment decreased. The sense of community was effective insofar as it bred conformity whereby you lost your identity for the good of Germany. People were not outspoken about the Nazis because of a degree of fear, but also because they were relatively content with life under the Nazis.

Much has been taken from the Nazi regime by way of political methods and ideas. Essentially World War Two was a battle between two ways of life, although always portrayed as a Good vs Evil battle, it couldn't be further than the truth. Democracy was able to team up with Communism to defeat Fascism and Nazism. Democracy then went on to take on Communism and win.

There is a distinct lack of objectivity in the investigation and research of Nazism. The winner writing history has gone a long way to stifling any alternative view of Nazism which tries to be objective about any of the possible pros of such an ideological regime. There's also an amount of control, power and legitimacy given to the appropriate Jewish authorities concerned with the Holocaust. I just don't think it can be truly objective when this is the case.

That's why I found actually studying history to be so interesting, you get to hear the tale of the the "losers" rather than just the "winners", reading case studies from inside Germany was amazing. I think in this country we don't so much see it as the "war for democracy" thing, that's more an American thing, it was applied to Iraq as well, it's ludicrous.

 

I've also met a holocaust survivor, he told us the tale of how he survived it was so sad and so inspiring at the same time. So I would be a massive fucking hypocrite and paying so little respect to him if I even considered that it wasn't to defeat "evil"
