Schoolgirl Catherine Emery has been arrested more than 20 times for drunken behaviour, which saw her drink up to 12 cans of lager a night. Catherine was the leader of a girl gang who met in supermarket car parks to drink Carling or Stella Artois beer most nights. Since being given the Asbo, Catherine Emery, 14, has vowed to cut down on her drinking but added 'it's going to be really hard' In one week she drank 143 units or 80 drinks - 10 times the recommended limit for an adult female. The binging led to her causing chaos in her hometown of Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Her catalogue of offences from December last year to April this year has seen her: Kick out at police who had tried to remove her from public toilets after complaints from locals,Assault a 15-year-old girl for no reason, pulling her hair and punching her in the face as she walked by,Shout and swear at passing residents,Enter a police van and start shouting at police officers, when she was told to stop she lashed out and injured an officer,Lash out a man who had told her to behave. Catherine, who helps out at an arts centre, admits she has a problem but says lots of people her age did the same. 'I do see what I did wrong and I see that my drinking has got me into trouble but I don't do anything different to what other kids do really. I don't know what I'm doing when I'm drunk so I can't really explain why I do what I do,' she said. 'I never considered it to be too much of a problem because I manage to go to school every day and I do my bit with the kids I teach. I never get a hangover.' More... She must also stop seeing certain people and must not be violent or threaten and harass people. She has also been banned from certain areas of Wetherby. Catherine, who used her £5-a-day dinner money to buy alcohol, said: 'I am going to try and stick to my Asbo because I don't want to get locked up. 'It is going to be really hard and I am going to cut down on my drinking, maybe having two cans a day instead of 12.' The teen was adopted by her parents when she was aged five. Her adopted father died died ten years ago, and adopted mother Elizabeth, 50, has had to stop work because she suffers with arthritis. She said: 'Her dad dying had a massive impact on her and maybe that's one of the reasons why, because she is still coming to terms with it. 'I know I'm not strict enough. Since their dad died I did try and give them everything they wanted as it was such a difficult time for us. I spoiled them both. 'Catherine can be lovely and she's great with kids. I see both sides of it. I know the true Catherine, the real Catherine, the one who's not drunk. 'I feel quite helpless to stop Catherine now as it's gone so far. I hope this Asbo is the making of Catherine because she seriously needs help. 'Catherine finds in hard to discuss how she is feeling. She keeps it all bottled up. She's frustrated with everything that's gone on and what's in her head, that's why she lashes out.' Wetherby PC Steve Atkinson said: 'We have been working together with other agencies for about six months to try and deal with Catherine's behaviour. 'We tried very hard to engage with her, but we've had to go down the Asbo route as a last resort and we will continue to seek orders on these youths who are out of control.' Councillor Les Carter, executive board member responsible for community safety, added: 'It is always sad to see young people going off the rails like this, but we need to protect everyone else from their unacceptable behaviour. 'I hope that this Asbo will help her realise how serious her situation is, and finally turn her life around.' If there's anything she really deserves to be criticized for, it's for posing for the photo and actively "participating" in the story. And her mother deserves even more criticism for allowing it.;)
