I personally think they do great as a live band.

There is a lot of pre recorded music at the concert, i was in budapest and i totally agree that 30 percent wasn't played live that evening.But as i've said, they became troubadours, entertainers, people with children, young girls in love with Chris's hair are the ones to be seen during viva la vida shows.You know, you can't have it all, they want to have fun cause in the end like Chris says "Everything is cheezy, that's the essence.But not so much of real music can't be heard during Coldplay shows nowdays.OOOOOOOOOOoooooo.OOOOOOO,OOOOO, that was also pre recorded...:)

I don't see why you can't love Chris' hair and love the music. How is being an entertainer a bad thing? And just because they are a huge band doesn't mean they are a "product". They out of most big bands today seem to still have the most creative control over what they do!

I think if you're a confident band you should be able to sacrifice the big lights effect to play some music live.

 

I understand if it's not physically possible. But sometimes the dancing around is a bit much. And it's all predictable, Chris does the same shit every show, so it's not even spontaneity which could be exciting. It's just rehearsed.

I have to agree with the original poster.If you look at Parachutes and AROBTTH compared to VLV its night and day.Parachutes and AROBTTH are heavy and filled with great riffs and heavy lyrics.With VLV all we have is pop with butterflies on the stage and stupid constumes etc.Im sad because Coldplay used to be one of my favourite bands in the world and id do anything to get a ticket to one of their shows.Now im not to bothered about getting one for their upcomming concert near me. :-(

I'm talking about in concert. I was only guessing. When i was at a show i was watching what Chris was doing and it seemed like he was playing a synth at the same rhythm as the strings, and there was no keyboard sound... so it was an educated guess.
