No one ever getting sick would be a wonderful thing, but impossible. Free healthcare is economically impossible for the US, unless we can just make trillions appear out of thin air, which we can but it would cause more inflation which wouldn't be sustainable.

I would love for everyone to have free healthcare, just as I don't want anyone to ever get sick or sad, but its impossible.

Socialism is a bad word because it does not work wellw, its not practical, it sounds good but does not work well, simple fact of life.

There is no way possible we could have free healthcare, were already broke, in the hole a few trillion, our currency is devaluing everyday, even now as we speak. Soon the dollar will be worthless.

We are going to be forced in the next 10-15 years to massively downgrade the size and spending of our government. We have a large unsustainable size of government and spending beyond our means that will not continue for long. How long with Asia subsidize our nation? Not much longer, and in the short term printing money will work, but the long term ALWAYS ends in high inflation and a devalued currency.

We built a government around a reserve currency, military leading nation, and printing money, those three things are fading, and as it fades so goes our ability to support the massive government we already have, thus adding more government and trillions more spending would be impossible.

We're giving oil from Iraq to China begging them to give us more money to support our debt....we can't go long with hat in hand thinking the whole world will just give us money.

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Aaron, I'm so glad you're finally seeing politics for what it actually is! I used to be completely caught up in it, wasting my time worrying about individual bills, politicians, parties, etc.

There is no such thing as the "Republican" and "Democrat" parties. There are only Republicrats and they all do the same thing. But don't let this make you sad, just be an observer to the stupidity and enjoy your life and your relationships with the people around you. Nobody needs government to be happy!

Nick:

I read some of the most disgusting anger and vitriol directed toward Glenn Beck on other message boards, and it really shows how bitter some people can get about politics. I disagree with Glenn on many things, but I'm thrilled when he says something insightful or true. Same goes with Rush Limbaugh or Bill Maher. I'm tired of this personality contest, let's judge each commentator on the content of their statements.

Jay, great words man:) Thanks:) I usually try to stay focused on the positive. It gets hard sometimes though. I especially liked what you said to Nick. Fair and balanced you are. Although there really is nothing, and I mean nothing that Lilmbaugh said that I have ever agreed with.

A lot of western europe is deep in debt. And the average nation in Europe is a lot smaller than the US.

there's no such thing as "Free Healthcare"

When one centralized government controls healthcare, welfare, bailed out companies, and holds the economy hostage for movements like "green jobs"... There is corruption of power... Once they get their mouth around that much power, they can't let go. And it becomes the Animal Farm. Once the pigs are in control, good luck moving back. You will need a revolution in Europe if anyone wants to fix their huge government. But in the US, we are hoping that we can change without one.

Gigantic Government has NEVER provided more freedoms. That is your mistake. Some people will never understand that. Those people have closed their minds from reality to agree with foolishness and powerful men, inspired by bribes.

Limited Government = more freedom. This is hard for some people to accept, that humanity is responsible for itself. These people are inspired by something greater than a politician.

Most of western Europe including the UK is out of rescession. The USA is still in a recession. GDP is measured as a percentage so it can be measured across the world.

How is there a corruption of power? Everyone still has a vote, we get to chose how the healtcare is run. We control which people to Govern us.

The NHS is independent from government. It answers to the people.

If you were having a baby, would it not be great to recieve help from the government if you could not afford to support the baby in a proper way. Also would it be great if you did not have to pay a hostipal bill for having a baby?

Technically yes, look at unemployment, government debt and the Pound is dropping. You're facing inflation, devalued currency and major economic problems in the future. Real GDP is in decline too. Britain is worse off than America in the long run due to high debt, and a large trade deficit.

Britain is running out of industries and with high inflation and a devalued currency, you're not going to do well, and will be forced like America to spend less, produce more and massively downside government due to lack of funding or the ability to borrow.

You can't live off free credit forever, eventually you have to pay it back with interest and once you stop becoming profitable you will lose that line of credit.

The Central bank of England is printing money to buy its own debt, you have to buy your own debt! That is NOT, never has been sustainable.

Nick, as long as the currency isn't totally debased (Zimbabwe style), and most people don't understand Austrian theory about the "business cycle", I think the Western Democracies can keep this ruse up forever. People will continue to vote for the guy who can promise to stave off the next recession/depression.

Not forever but for a little while longer, 10-15 years. But due to inflation, weak currency and having trouble borrowing money, we will be forced to save more, spend less, produce more and have balanced trade and massively downsize government. We will only get so far with quantitative easing!
