This is why I'm going to clown college after I graduate.

College is just an upgrade of highschool because of one simple thing: people.

I dunno, they're different.

It depends on the school. When I was at Santa Fe it was amazing, I learned a lot and it felt like college. The school I'm at now is mostly duel enrolled students and feels like high school. My English 1101 class has a seating chart!:veryangry2:

I hear you have to have really good grades for that.

Well, in my college no one really acts like teenagers, they're serious about college stuff :P But we have our moments. And well, you finally get to study what you want, so that's a plus.

The only thing I dare to complain about is that it has high school too, so every morning I have to deal with those hormonal machines, and tell them to shut the fuck up.

I miss uni.

edit: that's worth posting my 3000th post for.

One more year? Haven't you been at your little community college for like 3 already?

I've been at 3 different schools total so far. It's hard to get motivated at the school I'm at now because it's so shitty. 6 classes left then UCF, which I'll love and do quickly. I wish I had the money for a nice private school up north.

Edit- one of the reasons it is taking so long is I spend my free time actually learning useful thing that I will need in my future career. If anything college thus far has gotten in my way, but I need a degree on my resume.

College is like A-levels right?

I'm planning to take form 6, which would be taught at school. It's like studies after high school, only the location is in high school. I think it's A-levels. I'm not all that sure.

Noo. In the US, College is the same thing as University.

Well, technically there is a difference, but we always just say college.

College/University in the states is the 4 plus years of education following high school, but at a different location.

Yeah, about the same, only Form 6 is around 1 and a half years, and then straight to university to study a degree.

I hope I got it right.

So what is the difference between college and uni? I thought uni was something higher than college haha

*googles*

That's just plain confusing. And here I thought our system was complicated. :D

Hahaha noo. Colleges and Universities in the US serve the same purpose. I'm pretty sure Colleges are just smaller? No one every says "I'm going to university". We say "I'm going to college". Just forget everything I've told you and remember

College = University (in the US)

College = University (in the US)

Ah, easier to understand.

Be aware that there is a very distinct difference in terminology between the USA and the rest of the world. In the US, there is very little difference academically between a "college" and a "university". In the U.S. the terms are synonymous; other countries use "college" to refer to some secondary schools, but "university" is always used to mean an institution of tertiary education and higher learning. Universities are usually larger and often contain multiple "colleges" within them. However, some of the top-ranked schools in the US have a name including "college" (ex. Dartmouth College). In other parts of the English-speaking world, the term "university" equates to the US use of "college" and the term "college" refers more to a trade or vocational school. Wikipedia has a page that describes the differences at wikipedia.org

U.S. schools that call themselves 'universities' are usually just colleges and nothing like the european university system. For example, the place I go to changed its name from Lee College to Lee University several years ago just because they preferred the sound of it.
