Featured Replies

sorry if a thread like this has been made, but ive just been thinking about it recently..

are there any albums that you just love a certain time of the year?

maybe they take on a new meaning?

or just suit your moods?

anyway, what do you all think? :nice:

fall:

parachutes, coldplay.

transatlanticism, death cab for cutie.

the seldom seen kid, elbow.

winter:

white blood cells, the white stripes.

pinkerton, weezer.

takk..., sigur ros.

spring:

alright, still, lily allen.

sgt peppers, the beatles.

summer:

consolers of the lonely, the racontuers.

a guide to love, loss, and deperation, the wombats.

whatever people say i am, thats what im not, arctic monkeys.

Viva la Vida for the summer

Prospekt's March for the winter

yeah, sometimes its the sound of the album, sometimes its just the time you first heard it.

Coldplay:

Spring - Viva La Vida

Summer - X&Y

Fall - Parachutes

Winter - AROBTTH

Sigur Ros

Von - indifferent, but probably Fall

Agaetis Byrjun - Winter

( ) - Winter

Takk - Early Spring

Meo suo i eyrum... - definitely Summer

etc. etc.

most bands don't really matter, but I am a stickler about these two, particularly about listening to parachutes when it starts getting cold.

I also see The Bends & OK Computer as more summery, and Kid A/In Rainbows as wintery.

This is what I love about Mannheim Steamroller. They based their first four Fresh Aire albums on each of the four seasons (e.g. Spring, Fall, etc.), so if I feel like a particular season, I can just pop that in.

Speaking of which, who else likes Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons?" Anyone?

The Four Seasons is spectacular!

to get back to the original question... I do this more with individual songs rather than whole albums.. though, I can't think of any specific examples at the moment :\ In general, I like more upbeat, danceable stuff for spring/summer and quieter, more mellow stuff in winter.

George Winston does the same thing, Autumn into Winter, Winter into Spring, Spring into Summer....

me! *waves*
