Guest howyousawtheworld
So the Lib Dems, Labour and Tories have had their last conferences before the next general election and did anyone make any gains from the past 3 weeks? For me, despite the Lib Dems attempts to make a big stand, I think all 3 parties have made little impact on the opinion polls with Gordon Brown's and David Cameron's speeches being fairly low key, even though that is NOT what Brown wanted. None of the speeches made by the 3 party leaders were headline grabbing of the extent of say Tony Blair's in 2006 and 1996. Usually conference season is the part for the loser to make the gain ahead of spring's general election. Don't think it happened for Gordon Brown and this time next year I'm now certain that David Cameron will be Prime Minister of the UK. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8296010.stm

Guest howyousawtheworld
44%-Conservative 27%-Labour 17%-Lib Dem Certainly looks that way to me. That's a huge lead for the Tories. Of course they need a big swing to gain power, but that looks very easy for them. Probably a massive majority as well.
Black Rose
I'm worried that the BNPs will capture some of the swing-voters to get some MPs. Time for Change, Labour out!

Surprising to see a Scotsman who wants the Tories to win actually :p

Surprising to see a Scotsman who wants the Tories to win actually :p I am a huge believer in the Union and very anti EU. I can't be doing with those one policy wonders the SNP lead by a man who looks like the love child of Jabba and a halloween pumpkin. I don't have any personal problems with Gordon Brown but his cabinet are hugely incompetent and we can't have incompetents running the country. I also think them backtracking over their MANIFESTO promise of a referendum on the Lisob Treaty was very wrong. I thought David Cameron would be quite pro Europe when he took over the Tory reigns 4 years ago, but thankfully I was proved wrong. Even though he is a great speaker, he may not be as great as Tony Blair, but crucially I don't think he's going to be fake like Blair.

I agree with nearly everything you've said although personally I feel Gordon Brown is deluded and incompetent himself not just his cabinet, his arrogance along with the likes of Balls and Millibands really irritates me, I agree Cameron certainly does come across as more sincere but he's almost as good at PR as Blair which can't hurt either. I'm odd in that I'm pro some things in Europe that to me would make sense like having the Euro for example but I'm very anti the deregulation of power from individual countries to Brussels and the endless, mindless and moronic bureaucracy. Gordon Brown is unfortunately weak. When he could have sacked Alistair Darling he didn't.

Tonsu
Yep, I think it's definitely only a matter of time. I don't mind the guy, in fact I think he's a decent fellow. The problem with the Tories are the ones behind the scenes; the real power-players: big corporations, banks etc. But then again in that sense it hasn't been very much better in recent times under Labour so...
Black Rose
If you believe some of the theories that it doesn't matter whom the puppet on the string is, be it red or be it blue, the country is controlled by a secret person, even the Queen is in on the deal. busybeeburns
I've been a big fan of David Cameron's nouse and ability to pick off Gordon Brown's arguments one by one with such ease in parliament. Unfortunately, I don't agree with some of the Tory's own policies means that personally speaking leadership becomes irrelevant when it comes to polling day.
