and possibly flying to Auckland to record our band's EP or LP1!!

That's cool. Why Auckland?

and I would suggest recording an EP until you build up more of a following...I hate it when semi-unknown bands have an album. Dunno why

We're not signed, this is just a possibility. And yeah it would be an EP. We know someone in Auckland who is happy to do a proper EP for us for free in his studio. Plus its in NZ so it would be insane!!!

NZ is insane!!!

Do you know the name of the guy? I know far too many music/industry type people. It's insane!!!

Not really, Josh (Band member #2) knows about it. It's a pretty cool thought that we could be doing that. Anyway this thread isnt about me, you can talk about the band as aussie music though! Our self made and produced EP should be out next month.

^^ Look forward to it!

I went to NZ once :D LOVED it, would love to go back one day...

Anyway, I listened to the new Tame Impala CD today. Like, properly listened... I could never get into them before but listening to the album as a whole made me appreciate their sound a lot more!

Also, today my friend bought me tickets to a concert that's being held to celebrate the opening of a new bridge in Brisbane, with the likes of Angus and Julia Stone, Bob Evans, Josh Pyke and Yves Klein Blue... yay :D

are you going to give Triple J Unearthed a shot?

Yep. Once we finish producing and mixing the ep. So free tunes for everybody!

Have listened to Tame too. It's sitting at about a 7.5 or an 8 for me at the moment. Think it needs to grow more. Ive learned to play some of the tracks on guitar (with flanger) which makes it sound like theirs... makes me appreciate it more.

Channel V's guerilla gig today FIRST IN MELB... and I missed it. Cat Empire at Flinder st station. Crap! Hope I can find a vid.

Innerspeaker is sitting at a 9/10 for me. best aussie album since In Ghost Colours imo. i would say thats after about 15 to 20 listens.

so nice to finally have a few highly anticipated albums that havent disappointed. angus + julia, JBT, eddy current and tame impala have all live up to expectations, some have even surpassed it.

Yeah this year is a lot better for aussie "albums"....

i like it how you've put "albums" haha and you're completely right. last year did produce alot of great singles but very few solid albums.

Is anyone else signed up to the Basement Birds mailing list? I got an email just this morning with details to their 'one and only' tour and an oppurtunity to buy tix before the general public, deets below...

We are so excited for you to join us this August for our "Good Evening and Good Night Tour". This will be our one and only tour and we wanted to give you, the lovely people who have joined our mailing list community, the special opportunity to grab tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

This week only, you have exclusive access to tickets for all show dates via Oztix.

The options are:

Show Ticket

Show Ticket + full self-titled album delivered to your mailbox on or before the official release date of July 16th (yes, we heard all of you when you said you wanted a physical album so we're putting a limited edition together) - this package is only available while pre-sale stocks last

VIP ticket - including priority access to the venue, a sound check party plus some time to hang out with us and a tour t-shirt - there are only 50 spots per show available so get in quick!

Tour kicks off in Adelaide on 12 Aug then heads west for an extravaganza in Perth before flying east for a jolly run up the coast taking in Melbourne, Wollongong, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane.

Show dates and venues are:

Thursday 12 August - HQ, Adelaide

Friday 13 August - Astor Theatre, Perth

Saturday 14 August - Forum Theatre, Melbourne

Wednesday 18 August - Wollongong Uni, Wollongong

Thursday 19 August - Bar On The Hill, Newcastle

Friday 20 August - Enmore Theatre, Sydney

Saturday 21 August - Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane

I'm thinking of just getting the second option.

so will the album only be available if you get tix to their tour? i would love to see them but i dont think i'll get the time especially with all the gigs surrounding that date. but im really enjoying the vibe these guys have.

I think so, yeah. If you went it would make August a massively epic month for you! :P

DAMMIT ANOTHER TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT I CANT TAKE IT!

Totally going option 2 or 3

^^ Don't forget it shouldn't be long before Arcade Fire come out either :awesome: (meaning, like, in the next year... at least they better come out)

Yeah I might not go to basement birds. I think 10 gigs is enough from now until 2011

Crowded House with Johnny Marr and Connan Mockasin
