Your job sucks.

Your job sucks..

The job itself does but the people I work for are amazing. I make my own schedule, I can call in sick if I have to. I can come in late or leave early. If I want a week off for the hell of it they will let me.

Some lady the other day wanted me to put a footie on her bloody foot. I told her it was against health code.

that's funny they couldn't figure that out.

if you think that's bad... there was this one girl in 8th grade that could not point out the united states on the map, and pointed to africa. and she was not faking... you should've seen the look on her face.

some people just don't know stuff

I also had a situation about 2 years ago where a geography high school freshman thought that Cuba was in Spain... (And she lives in FL)

Kids these days....

My friend floated here on a door from Cuba.

Ahh now it doesn't sound as bad. I used to do this voluntary work which requires a lot of effort and money to the point where I don't think I could carry on anymore. Plus I have uni and everything so it was too much. But I carried on anyway because of the people that I came to know and befriended with. Also the experience is priceless.

I guess having good collegues helps a lot.

You can't imagine the amount of Cubans that arrive on Miami's shores near Homestead, they do take huge advantage of the "wet foot, dry foot" immigration act.

Have you seen any in person coming onshore?

My Cuban friend is going to have a massive party the day Castro dies.

Many people think you can drive to america from where i live...

Maybe a lot of people have those boat cars from the 60's.

Oh, dear...

For all the fuss about literacy,

Numeracy is more important. (and very probably less common)

Think about it. :worried2:

You know what's funny? Average numeracy scores at my old school were below average compared to the above average literacy scores. And they claim literacy is more important!

It's also the way they teach it, though. You can't just pause it for a second to back up a little and get some help so you properly understand the subject. It's all rush rush rush, fit as much in the brain as possible and teach the students so they regurgitate it for a test. It's not life learning anymore, it's test learning, and it's shit, because then you get dumbasses like in Nick's case strolling around without a clue.

Also, stretched resources doesn't help. Society's going down the shitter, I swear. I mean, isn't it OBVIOUS something's going wrong?

...well, I guess Rick wins the thread.

You know what... I am terrible at maths.

I don't know my times tables, I can't for the life of me work out friggin equations, but I still passed all my maths exams. :wtf:

But half the maths crap they teach you, you are never gonna use in real life anyway.

I know that I'm not gonna have a job that requires me to work out the 3rd angle of a triange.
