Sorry, I missed your post for some reason. A lot of them do contribute to British society. You don't really have a choice if you're a non EU citizen. You couldn't just come over and claim benefits.

 

Exactly, plus if you allowed anyone to move anywhere just so they could lead "a better life", certain countries would just end up being overrun to the detriment of people's lives in those countries.

Or is someone suggesting that all the people of somewhere like Zimbabwe who would like to leave for a "better life" (I'm sure we're talking millions) should all be given free passage to Britain?

The British certainly didn't ask when they came to Zimbabwe. There probably wouldn't be as many people trying to come over if Britain hadn't conquered their countries in the first place.

 

Anyway I don't think Africans should have less of a right to stay here than Europeans.

Desire has nothing to do with reality, practicality and common-sense. Otherwise I'm sure the U.S. wouldn't have constructed that big fence along its border with Mexico.;)

And as I stated before, the U.S. is nowhere near as densely populated as the UK.:dozey:

Well you can only deal with "the present", and the fact is that no African country is part of the EU.

Therefore as far as immigration is concerned, the correct procedures should be followed in all cases, and bogus marriages shouldn't be permitted.;)
