March 3, 201016 yr Author I actually haven't closely followed hockey for a few years, much of my hatred is due them being the hockey equivalent of the yankees earlier this decade, and essentially buying an all-star team. However, I hear they have a very different, much younger roster these days (probably contributing to the fact they're shit this season). Yeah we've lost some of our core and had a load of injuries.

I don't get why so many kids pick them as their favourite team. They haven't made the playoffs in years. They make the worst trades. They don't know how to win. They bring in GMs who self destruct the team, yet everybody loves them. Blows my mind. With the salary cap now buying an all star team isn't that much of a problem. Even so the Red Wings haven't ever really had to buy an all star team. They sucked hard for a while there. But they have such a smart management team being able to nab guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, etc. with late draft picks.

Haha That's a great point actually, but I feel they have to have some kind of Canadian pride over the Americans, since it's a dual-nation league, so I'll let them off with it. What annoys me more is that in a league of teams that only come from the US (NFL) there is a team called the New England Patriots, with all their Uncle Sam, stars and stripes bullshit going on as well. I wonder what the London franchise will be called when it inevitably happens. Probably something shit like "bulldogs" *cringe*
