Top Singles of the Decade

#14 Viva La Vida

Top Albums of the Decade

#18 Viva La Vida

Top Artists of the Decade

#4 Coldplay

Hmm, I think they should have been higher up on these polls.

I mean some of the other artists beating them shouldn't even be on the lists.

Though I am extremely happy that Green Day are #1 on all three polls!

I'm sorry but why are Green Day so high up? Are the fans that desperate for recognition? Biggest/best band of the decade is judged by how many awards, album sales they get. Coldplay lead that comfortably.

Ultimately though I believe U2 to be the most impressive band of the decade. They knew that to survive and prolong their success, they had to start from basics again. That was playing in arenas rather than massive stadiums for their Elevation tour, re claiming those fans who got lost amongst the 90s electronic sonic experimentation period. And when everyone thought they were dying or gone after 2 previous albums with a lack of a massive, commercial single, out came Beautiful Day - which amazed even the most hard core U2 fan. It was a re ignition of their career and instead of being a band left to be remembered for their great old hits like Sunday Bloody Sunday, With Or Without You or One, they produced many more fantastic songs this decade that are loved by all. That is the real success story of the decade and only one band could do that.

I'm really glad for Coldplay but Green Day...really?I don't think they're that great these days.I'm not saying that Coldplay should necessarily be first, but Green Day shouldn't be.But well Rolling Stone is American...Different tastes. What are Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson doing in there?

Hmm... Green Day... Well they certainly proved against us that they know how to poll-crash when they want to. They're not the best of the decade, and they didn't represent the sounds of the decade.

But you have to admit (begrudgingly) that no other thing really captured the zeitgeist of the angsty, cynical, terror-phobic, self-centered decade better than American Idiot, regardless of quality.

Overall not unexpected. It is a public poll, and on Rolling Stone at that. Kind of represents the readers who can still stand them. At least Radiohead did very well and Arcade Fire made the bands list, (and of course Coldplay! :nice:) so not a total loss/ deviation from what has been.

Did you have to insult the Green Day fans? Just because they voted for the band does not mean they're "desperate for recognition".

Green Day have been a band for a long time now. Nearly a decade longer than Coldplay. They're built up a massive fanbase over that time and therefore have plenty of people who would vote for them.

These polls were not based on awards or album sales, simply people's opinions.

But hey, I respect your opinion and you have the right to say whatever you want.
