what does amsterdam mean to you?

I'm doing this thing in music where we have to bring in a song we like and write about why we like it...

does anyone else really like this song and why?? :smug:

Well, this song really means something to me cos when I saw them live on June 11th, while they were in Toronto, they just played it so beautifuly and just the lines "And time is on your side, its on your side now" just made me feel like i could stay an over joyed 16 year old listening to one of the best bands ever and just live in that moment for the rest of my life..its a really special song to me :)

The whole hopeless/suicidal thing has always appealed to me. Hmm, that sounds bad, but anyway, that line "I know I'm dead on the surface, but I am screamin' underneath" is the best way I've ever heard of describing the feeling you get when you're really depressed. It's such a sad song, but the ending, "stood on the edge, tied to a noose, but you came along and you cut me loose"... it's good that it ends with a sort of salvation, y'know, there is some hope after all. :/

i love this song, thats all i gotta say :)

I totally agree

drugs!

lol nah...it means alot, becoz it woz the 1st song on the album i understood and loved :D

i think amsterdam is really dark, really deep. But very sacred in that way...when someone has feelings of sadness that can never be erased...i've had feelings like that, images of it. and amsterdam is the tragic drug binge capital of the world. to some it may seem like hey hash bars, but to others its a place of debauchery and evil. themes of suicide, years of repressed emotion. it is oneof the most beautiful songs i have ever heard.

amsterdam doesnt mean anything to me. not even the city itself lol..

I adore this song. I always listen to this song before sleeping.
