Um, not that you didn't sound serious.

It just amazes me when people say that.

Unless you're a big masochist, I would highly recommend you consider other options.

uhh why would i need to be a masochist? i don't see why it amazes you? imagine how you sounded when telling other people. you have no idea how bad i want to be a med student. and a doctor. and before you start telling me how hard it's going to be, don't because for now i won't be discouraged.

edit: i don't think that was supposed to sound mean. i say that because i'm not sure. hmmm.

It's not a matter of discouraging you.

It amazes me because when people say it I remember how I felt when I realised that's what I wanted.

Cos it's beautiful.

But no, I'm not joking there. It is for masochists, kind of.

Want to give it a try? Go ahead. We all have to experience what we want in order to see if that's meant for us or not, if we really like it or not.

It's not the same to want it than doing it.

But wanting so hard to study that is a big start. A good one.

No doubts about it? Then go ahead, go to medschool. Live it.

Fearing failure is normal. It is, and I feel it everyday.

And I'll keep feeling it til I get my degree, and so will you.

But also, being scared proves that it matters to you.

And again, that's a great thing.

By the way, if you don't want to hear how hard it is, then go tell a mirror that.

Not trying to be mean here, but every single person you tell that will say the same: It's hard.

It's not a matter of discouraging you.

thank you for those words. and i know what you are talking about when you really, really know that's what you want. i know the feeling and even though i have a long, long way to go and get discouraged now sometimes. random things will remind me why i want to be a doctor and that feeling is the most amazing thing ever and it is indescribable.

never said it wouldn't be hard. it's just when people tell me how hard it is they really don't know how hard it is. and i'm not pretending i do know how hard it is, but whenever they do they just want to put me down which i don't put up with anymore.:dozey:

Yeah, but I do happen to know the shit :nice:

i'm trying to get into med school.

Did you have an exam? Or having some premed course?

I only had to do a shitty admission test :P

i guess when i said i am trying to get into med school is that i'm about to finish my first year of college. i'm only 19 :P.

No.

I went to high school before med school.

Then I took a year off (biggest mistake of my life) and then applied for medschool.

They accepted me and I started 1st semester in 2009.

In 11 days I'm finishing my second semester and in late July I start my second year.

you can get into med school without having gone to a university? you must be a genius?

Why would I need another career?

i've never ever heard of anyone getting into med school and not going to a university before hand? there are so many prereq course you have to take just to get in...so please tell me what you did? cuz not to be rude this seems doubtful...

oh wait? you are from the ukraine? it is way different over there...

The system is different where I live.

But I want to know what they requested so you could get in medschool.

Besides, not every school is the same.

Some schools have more years, others some other subjects, other schools require a pre med course.

It depends on the school.

well i don't know everything. i know we have to go to a university for 4 years then apply to med school which is about another 4 years. so i have to have a bachelors degree before i can get in. it's kinda like highschool. you have to take all these classes to graduate. and then hope you get in.

so i am no where near trying to apply for med school.

this is true.. but rarely in the US can you go straight from highschool to med school. there is only like 20 people here a year that do that.

Sucks for you then..

You'll be way old when you start your specialty.

I'll graduate (hopefully) in 5 years.

well i don't consider that way old. but yea i will be like 30.

Yes, but by the time you start it, I will be finishing mine.

that's true. i suppose. but it doesn't seem bad for me. that's just how it is in our country.
