Unusual Original Music • maybe you'd like to listen and comment?

:D Hi to all here. Great idea for a thread.

Would you mind also adding my project name and link to the first post, as you've suggested (thanks in advance to 'the_gloaming09' for doing this).

If you'd like to hear some music that collectively defies genres and is played on quite a variety of different instruments, then you might like to check out my Soundclick music page at this link:

Garden of Surreal Dreams

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=662928

My work is fairly unusual musically and the tracks are really quite different to each other, so if one isn't your kind of thing, then another might be.

There's some info that you may find interesting on the main artist page, about past activities etc. All tracks can be streamed, but there are also a few free downloads. You can listen without being a member, or if you wish you can register for free as a listener with Soundclick, which then allows you to create your own user station and add any artist's tracks that you like.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to give me your thoughts.

Hope you enjoy the sounds from my inner space, folks!

Sonic ;)

Tnspieler1012... gave a listen to chris 1 and your billy joel cover (nocturne)

I enjoyed the chris 1 song... had a nice melody/composition to it. I think that it has the potential to sound really great! I would however just perhaps work a little with the ryhthm in accordance to the drums... it feels like they go off at times. Also I would add a more dynamic bass, or the bass sounds at least out of tune to me.

I really really liked the billy joel cover. I'm familular with that song and I think that you got it down really well! I wish I could play piano like that!

I didn't get a chance to listen to the rest but I plan to and I'll let you know what I think.

heresjohnny... I haven't had a chance to listen to your stuff but I will and let you know what I think of it.

thanks guys for posting your music here and getting this thread moving! if you know anyone else in coldplaying mb that has music let them know about this thread so they can post and get others to listen to them.

looking forward to it lol.

beyond epic.

:edit:I hate it when I don't count the pages and leave my important posts on the previous page.

lol thanks

Link is weird…

:) Hi Mike (the_gloaming09).

Many thanks for adding my project name and link to your first post in this thread, but unfortunately it isn't working properly and is going to a 'file not found' page. I'm not really sure if this will work, but I've added a new link here and maybe if you copy and paste these two lines below directly from here to your first post, it might fix it (I'm guessing here though!):

Sorry Mike I kinda promised I'd hear your stuff and review it like a week ago but it's been a crazy week. I still plan on doing that, sorry but it will be soon.

Just gave your music a listen to. Excellently produced/mixed. Sounds very full and keeps you interested throughout. The harmonies are great as well. I've always liked harmonies, and you pulled it off well. The guitar solo is nice as well to the first song. The only thing I might possibly change is when you recorded the drums was it midi drums or something? I find that the crash cymbal sounds the same frequently, and to me it kind of stands out.

Bongos sounds interesting w/ the effects.

The last one also sounds good. I notice how you used loops from garageband. are all the instruments loops from garageband or did you also record some instruments?

Tnspieler1012 (Chris right?) & Garden of Surreal Dreams... i will be listening to your music soon, so stay tuned for my feedback.

Mike I'm such an ass I still haven't reviewed your stuff.

eh don't worry about it man... we're all busy people. i just started to get to other peoples stuff just now and i said i was going to do it soon a few weeks ago :P so no big deal.

Tnspieler1012: I listened to Organ Theme. Kind of has a phantom of the opera feel (even though i have never seen it...haha. This song and Organ Ambient work well listening to them back to back.

Organ ambient is very good as well. I really enjoy ambient music and especially since it's late here (11:20pm) this music is fitting. It's really relaxing, but still keeps you interested because it moves from the high and low parts of the organ.

Untitled: The piano is very nice. It's written really well... I wish I could play piano like that. I could picture this being part of a music score. Sounds sad, yet also strange or creepy at points. I could picture this being set to some sort of an old silent film.

I'll be giving your album a listen to hopefully soon, but i'm going to be hanging out w/ a friend soon.

Mike I finally got around to reviewing your EP. Here is my attempt at an "official" review:

What single change in the world is as predictable as the sunrise yet powerful enough to change who we are? The ever-changing seasons, which seem to circle around our lives and give us the variety we crave. This gently flowing EP reflects these life changes through music and lyrics like a clear lake on a spring day. Here’s the track-by-track:

The Park:

Opening with a vibrant string section, this instrumental features light and engaging acoustic guitar work displaying sing-songy undertones as a variety of instruments take the stage. It feels like a brisk walk in a small park on a warm spring day, with the fresh cut grass in your lungs and all day’s time to waste.

Spring Forward (Like Rabbits in an Open Field):

The opening piano unfurls much like spring, paving the way for a surprisingly soothing voice.

The chirping of rabbits is heard throughout in a cleverly designed synth part that dances around your head. A purely happy tune that sighs, “All of these tears, none of which are sad / Are simply cherished moments that you’ve had.”

The final minute or so could have used a new melodic line to maintain interest, but overall it is a solid effort

The Long Days of Summer:

Immediate acoustic guitar chops open this number, which has slightly more intensity, reflecting the bearing heat of summer over the pleasant warmth of spring. The singer is just trying to hold on to that summer feeling before the leaves turn gray…

Fall Back (Into a Dead Pile of Leaves):

The first minor chords of the record give a darkened and focused feeling. The track paints such a vivid picture you can feel the leaves around your head. The piano bridge is delightfully shady as Moody Blues-esque lyrics and melodies are sung from someone who sounds as though he could very well be Justin Hayward himself. The morbid lyrics talk of an overpowering sense of helplessness in a mortal life, “I can feel father time catching up to me…slowly being erased / What is happening to me?”

Winter’s Chill:

The opening wind effects send winter chills through you. A calm and content tune, “Bittersweet / But mostly bitter”, much like the feel of the song. Like a pull towards a happiness that is just out of reach. The “Can you hear…?” repetition in chorus is catchy and makes this song easy to love.

4 Seasons:

Full of catchy and well-placed guitar, this closing track is a reflection on the seasons’ affect on life and the resetting of yourself with the new world around you. It wraps up all the messages of the previous seasons and puts a nice bowtie on this little gift of an EP.

In a world full of music that is unfocused and just plain disturbing, it’s a breath of fresh spring air to hear effortless yet deep thoughts on the simplicity and beauty of the world around us.

Our Pop Ep coming soon.

Cheers, three tracks might be up tomorrow.

It's british inspired pop-rock-alternative.

ooh, it's actually decent!

I like your voice :nice: I can definately hear the AM influence in these. Pretty good, pretty good.

Looking forward to hearing more from you guys

Cheers, I naturally sound a bit British when I sing because 90% of the stuff I listen to is British!

Thanks for the review! Glad you liked.
