July 21, 201016 yr Author yo was my ep of songs ok? cause i think it's utter shit, but they're just the ideas put down, I'm gonna play them with the band soon giving it a listen Two Peas in a Pod-The guitar riff sounds a lot like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I like the chord progression throughout the song and feel that with vocals it would be a nice song. I would recommend taking out the tambourine because I find it sort of distracting especially since at times it doesn't go completely on beat and sort of stops at moments. Shade of Wighte-I like the rhythm in the song and the tambourine and click works well with it. I do like the chord progression in this as well though I think it should be louder in the mix. First Encounters-I like the rhythm for this, as well that there is bass included. It makes it sound more full. I really like the song a bit and feel that the rhythm for thesong help drives it. At the end of the song the bass and guitar don't sound like they match up in terms of same key/chord Genocide-It's nice to hear a piano for a change. It is very dark which works very well with the title of the song. I really like the bass that pans from left to right in the song. I do think the song might be a bit long, at 9 minutes. I've Had Enough-I like the chords in the song, but would've liked to hear more instruments besides a single guitar at least initially. I think adding vocals would definitely help. Drugstore-I might work on the rhythm for this one a bit more, perhaps use a metronome because at times the instruments don't match up Drawn Away-To me the chord progression of this song sound very 60's-ish. Victoria-I like the chord progression in this one quite a bit. People in Motion-I sort of liked the electronic-ish sounds in the beginning. I like the deep sounding bass in this one, I think it works well for it. As the Sun Sets on Me-The beginning sort of reminds me of U2's Where the Streets Have No Name. Of the songs I've heard this might be one of the most interesting because there are a few different things/sounds going on. Blood-The guitar and bass in this song make it sound kind of weird. With the effects you have on the guitar it feels as though the instruments keep modulating out of key. I might leave one of the instruments w/ no effect (guitar). The bass it more interesting w/ this effect. First Encounters II-I like this one, and see it's part of the other song. It sounds different in rhythm, but what else is different? Is it a different mix or a totally different song? Overall for a demo of rough ideas I think that they are good to start with. Honestly it reminds me of some early demos that I used to make when I was younger. I think that a lot of these songs have potential to sound really good! When l was listening to it here are some overall suggestions... -Use a metronome when recording. I've had the mistake many times just picking up a guitar and recording right away. If you can somehow record a metronome beat while you are recording your first track. This will then be able to help you keep the beat so the rest of the instruments will be on beat. -Be sure to tune your guitars before recording. To me it seemed as though there were bits when the instruments sounded a bit out of tune. -Make the mixes more interesting/add vocals. I know that these are only ideas but I felt that the songs could be more interesting if you had some additional instruments in the background or vocals. Don't get me wrong I really liked the songs you had and chord progression, but for me listening to a bunch of chords without some sort of change in instrumentation or vocals can get the songs to sound a bit boring. Like I said for demos I think that these songs work well and you should definitely show them to your band and have work with them. I know from personal experience how time consuming and annoying it can be to record all the instruments on your own, so good job with that! :D

August 23, 201015 yr Author ^I enjoyed that chris! very chill. I really liked the use of additional sounds from various locations. I might suggest though having them fade in and out. Part of me felt they were a little bit distracting coming in and out abruptly... but that's just me. I did like the chords and found is really relaxing but part of me was wishing there to be an extra instrument show up here and there even for a little while. I do think though it was good to add the dialogue... made it more interesting. The track really reminded me of the Album Leaf's Perro with the additional sounds. Also have you done any songs where you sing? you should try!
August 23, 201015 yr Glad you liked it. :wacko: I did try overdubbing some piano and instruments and such at one point, but in the end I just preferred listening to the main chords alone. Even the audio samples can be a bit distracting so I keep a version with just the main organ. Funny you should mention perro actually because it reminded me of my piece last week when I finally bought a chorus of storytellers. And I have tried singing on several occasions actually, mainly with covers but most of them fail miserably. I've written songs with lyrics that I play in my room, but they always turn out horribly when I try recording them.

August 23, 201015 yr I really liked Chorus of Storytellers, I understand the criticism it's gotten from fans, but everything he does comes out beautifully. I'm a sucker for falling from the sun, and in general the beats, electric piano and strings are arranged and produced perfectly.
