Help! I have a virus that won't go away :(

Featured Replies

I just logged onto my computer today to find a program called Internet Security 2010 had installed itself onto my computer. It keeps sending me 2000000000 pop ups a minute saying I have a virus. I'm pretty sure this whole program is a virus itself. When you click remove threat it always takes me to this page where you have to pay $40 to remove the virus. It's annoying as fuck, and it won't let Chrome work. I've tried removing it, but I always get a pop up saying I can't delete it while it's in use. I don't know how to remove it, can anyone help me please?

edit; It's blocked twitter too. Great...

editedit; It's gone now!

That's not really working for me, it says nothing is wrong, when something is wrong. :/

My wallpaper has also changed itself on it's own, it now says "Your system has been infected!" in red writing with a green backround. I would screenshot it, but this damn virus won't let me do anything.

Damn that sucks. I hate viruses. I want to take the people who make them and burn them alive one limb at a time. Better than they deserve.

See if this helps:

Good show! :toff:

Dude I totally made Internet Security 2010 it wasn't working for you?

Ok so my computer has started to run slower then normal and both avast and adaware can't find anything. I use to be able to have about 9 tabs (of porn) open on firefox and at the same time listen to winamp. Now the music is all chopped up and slow...

any suggestions?

Do you have programs like torrents running at the same time?

Or anything else?

Is your hard drive close to be full? Like only 10GB or less free?

You could try a defragmentation (if you don't have it set up to be made once a week automatically) or delete your temp internet files and other stuff using Disk Cleanup.

Do you have loads of programs installed?

Or did you save many files on your desktop?

pc specs would be highly appreciated!

also, it's always good to have HijackThis scanning your system. Use this to have a look for unwanted software which might be the reason of your problem.

I have 90GB free and I have about 11 icons on my desktop... I just don't get it.. My computer is really old (7 years) but it's always been really fast because I've always kept it fairly clean.

I have HiJackThis already it's just I don't know which files to delete. If I post my logfile would you be willing to tell me which ones I should delete?

Could it be that your RAM or PSU aren't working properly anymore?

This may sound stupid but do you have dust inside your PC, especially in front of the fan of the PSU?

I think winnie is the expert here but I had those problems before.

I had replaced every single part of my computer piece after piece until I bought the laptop. :)

Sorry if I can't help you, hopefully you'll find out what the problem is. Fingers crossed!

It slowed down after I cleaned out all of the dust. It's weird... I don't know :(

:uhoh: Do you know how to look up the RAM performance?

Hope you didn't damage something.

If winnie sees this I'm sure he can help you better.

Going to bed now... ttyl :)

yeah, no worries, of course! just post the logfile, maybe we figure something out!

Still, I'd like to know which operating system you're using and what your processor speed and RAM specs are.

Give at us your RAM specs and what you generally use the computer for, what types of things you usually have running (eg video streaming and audio playing it sounds like)

Try not to run anything memory intensive either such as LimeWire, that will definitely slow you down if you're trying to play audio/video at the same time

Someone pleas tell me what I should check.
