Yeah that's pretty true, my Nintendo DS makes me have a nice rage with the Wi-Fi. We're supposed to have WiFi in all McDonald's for DS, although the one I used to frequent had a passworded network, RAEG.

Apps are actually a lot of fun.

 

And here at school, there's Wi-fi pretty much everywhere except our rooms (a bit ridiculous).

 

So yeah. They are fun. Plus I'm amazing at Scrabble now.

go for the classic. I've put as many songs as I could on my 80GB iPod, but it still has a lot of space left

I'm a classic man myself. Screen doesn't get all fingerprinted up and it's more for just pure music lovin', you dig? ;)

I would get a Nano as their small and good for when I go running but that's just personal preference, but really:

Wow, I'm surprised it's currently a tie - I thought everyone would go for the Touch.

 

Personally, I voted for the classic - if you just want to play music, you don't need a Touch and I just love the look of the classic, it's just beautiful

 

(Oh, and the fingerprints on the tuch screen would drive me insane) :P

I have a Nano, and I think it's perfect. It has enough space and it's really small.

But if you need a lot of space, I'd go for the Classic. One of my friends has one, and she's really pleased with it. (personally, I'm not a fan of touch screens. they drive me crazy)

I would suggest, buying a cd-player and dragging around a case of your favourite cds.

definitely don't get the classic... it has a HDD in it... so if you hit it hard or drop it or if it's left in a hot car it could stop working right. Plus the scroll wheels break easier than a touch screen I think...

 

120 GB of storage isn't necessary for me, because I only want to listen to my favorite music. If I want to hear new music, I test it and then take it off the iPod if I ever put it there. Or I just keep it on the computer.

 

And I only watched videos on an ipod a few times... it's totally not worth it. I have a computer and a laptop for those things.

 

Obviously Apps can be very cool... You can read e-mails, download music, text... My favorite so far is the Skype app... If I have WiFi, I don't need to burn minutes to call anyone... But you probably don't care about that since someone else is likely paying for your phone.

 

if price is an issue, get the nano... those things are cool imho

Which is why I got the extended warranty on my Ipod Touch. You can't fool the Apple people. I was walking around a pool holding my ipod, that I just bought 7 months and it fell out of my hand and into the pool. I couldn't fish it out and had to jump in the freezing water to get it out. I thought after it dries out, I will take it to Apple and just tell them it won't come on. When I took it in, the guy turned it around, looked with a flashlight and said "Look at that, the indicator is red which means it got wet." I had to pay $150.00 for a refurbished one, but I still was able to keep it on the extended warranty on my other one.

Anyone would be fine for me. :disappointed:

Well everybody, thanks for the input. I didn't think it would be quite this close in terms of the recommendation, I thought it would be more one-sided.

 

After much consideration, last week I used the gift cards on the middle-of-the-road iPod Touch. Quite frankly, I had been seriously considering the Zune for awhile, until I noticed the horrid battery life in comparison to iPods. I knew I didn't really need the huge storage space of the iPod Classic, plus the Touch offered more features. I narrowed down the decision to what I would think a year from now: would I say, "I really wish I would have gotten the Classic", or "I really wish I would have gotten the Touch"? I knew it would be the latter, so indeed I decided to go with the Touch. So far, I love it.

Is the battery life really that bad on Zunes?

 

My hubby has one and he says he has to recharge it after less than 10 hours of music play, and he just got it a few months ago (so I'm assuming it's a newer model). I'm guessing there are some settings he can rearrange, like the "active" album artwork in the background, but I don't know how much that would add to the battery life.

I think I could actually deal with that. The battery life on my Sony is poo. :disappointed:

Erm... have you even had a Classic, or known someone who has had a Classic for a long time? I have an old plastic one and it's endured PLENTY of hard falls and heat, and it works. The scroll wheels are fine. I imagine the newer aluminum ones would be no different.

 

The touchscreen breaks easier on a Touch because it's glass, and if you drop it, boom crack.

Features, schmeatures. I hope you're going to make good use of them at least, otherwise you coulda gone for a Nano. :P

The touchscreen doesn't break that easily. I've dropped mine many times, even on concrete, and there isn't a scratch.
