Kiefer Sutherland has a riot of a time on 4am bender... but gets it together for morning interview

After partying until 4am, Kiefer Sutherland might have hoped for a lie-in.

Instead he was up early for an interview with Jonathan Ross. The Hollywood bad boy pre-recorded an appearance to promote his new film Twelve after a very wild night out in London.

For a man who'd been barely able to walk straight only 12 hours earlier, he looked clean-shaven and remarkable fresh-faced as he took a seat on the chat-show sofa.

He then headed to a Q&A session at The BAFTA building in London.

The actor, 43, was described by onlookers as 'absolutely screaming paralytic' during a bender which kicked off at 10.30pm on Wednesday night and continued until 4am.

Jack's back: Kiefer Sutherland leaving his hotel to attend a Q&A session at The BAFTA building in London last night

Jack Bauer, the character he plays in the hit U.S. drama series 24, has found himself in some sticky situations in his time. But never one quite like this.

It all began at 10.40pm on Wednesday, when the 43-year-old Hollywood bad boy was seen outside the smart Covent Garden Hotel bar. After two hours, onlookers claim, he had amassed five empty wine glasses and was ordering more.

At 2am, he was driven on to Stringfellows club, where things apparently took a turn for the worse.

Insiders at the club describe Sutherland as appearing 'absolutely screamingly paralytic', with one reported as saying: 'He went bananas, shouting nonsense and dancing like Peter Crouch before kicking off when asked to leave.'

On his best behaviour: The 24 star looked subdued following his long night out

At 3.36am, bouncers removed him from the premises, escorting him outside in a headlock and leaving him shirtless.

Showing off his tattooed torso to the world, the father of one spent the next ten minutes staggering around the streets before finally falling into his car at 3.45am.

At 4am returned to his hotel, this time falling out of his car but at least with his shirt back on.

He seems to have then had a refreshing sleep because the next day he greeted fans outside the hotel looking smart in a coat and tie - but with a pair of dark glasses covering his eyes.

Hollywood bad boy: Kiefer was famously pictured drunk in a bar with trousers round his ankles in 2005

While a day in bed and some quiet reflection may have been in order, he was spotted yesterday relaxing with a cigarette outside at 11.50am - and bounced back to form in time for his appointment on the show.

He spoke to Ross about spending 48 days in prison following a 2007 drink-driving charge in Los Angeles.

He said: ‘I made a really stupid mistake, I put a lot of things in jeopardy

‘It was awful, I was in solitary for a long time, it’s not a place you want to be.'

‘I was so cross with myself, it was my way of teaching myself a lesson.’

Sutherland recently filmed the last ever episode of 24, promising that Jack Bauer 'goes out in a blaze of glory'.

He has a history of wild behaviour.

In 2007 he was jailed for 48 days for a drink-driving incident in Los Angeles.

Last year he was charged with assault after allegedly head-butting a fashion designer in a New York nightclub.

In 2005 he was famously pictured drunk in a bar with trousers round his ankles.

That's true! I wonder if they're going to try and incorporate time, or if they're just going to make it like a regular movie.

I don't think they will be able to do it in real time, my guess is they might show the time still but there will be much longer gaps.
