best player all time

Featured Replies

peyton manning

he has dominated the league since he came in and if it wasnt for favre playing until he was 60 he would annihilate every record in the books! the only thing in the world holding him back was a superbowl and he has that. He has a few years left too so he could win another too. despite all the hatred too manning actually plays well in the playoffs.

GOAT

generalizing 'best player' gets extremely messy. I would say he's certainly the smartest QB in the NFL, and one of the best QB's of all time.

Despite never winning a championship I would have to say Dan Marino is the greatest QB of all time, during the 80's when Dan Marino was in his prime the Dolphins had no running game or defense, if they did there would have been more championships won by Miami during the 80's.

However if I had to chose a "greatest player of all time" I would go Walter Payton.

Manning has had a weak running game and defense before yet has 1 title! What does that tell you?

Peyton Manning after 2

688 yards and 6 touchdowns

Looks like another MVP is coming

GOAT

no way is he even close to being the best player of all-time. not even the best QB...yet. and i live in Indy but if you think the championship is what was holding him back he now has the same amount as Brad Johnson. plus he didnt even deserve the super-bowl MVP. i still put Brady in front of him because he has more than one ring and all of them were with only one receiver and that was Deion Branch.

Winning a title is not a great way of judging a QBs overall ability!

Trent Dilfer has a SB but that doesnt exactly make him better than Marino.

The Pats proved a couple years ago that they dont need Brady to succeed.

Zinedine Zidane, of recent times.

I feel it is unfair to make comparisons of footballers who played decades ago to modern day athletes as it is very much a different game. I also have little depth of knowledge when it comes to football pre-1990's in comparison to the oldies who actually witnessed players' entire careers, as opposed to just best of clips of them.

Kareem-Abdul Jabar

Isn't that a character from Star Wars?:P

Your thinking of Admiral Ackbar, aren't you?

Or maybe Jabar The Hut?:P

George Best. No doubt about it.;)

Wow! I finally understand what's the so-called British Invasion

George Best wasn't British. He was Northern Irish.

Wait, are we just talking football, or is this open to all sports?

The thread title didn't make it clear, so I reckon anything goes!:P

I was actually thinking of giving Federer a mention.

FEDERER. :wideeyed:

You're a fan?

I watch tennis occasionally.

I watch and play a lot. I support Murray, of course, as he's a Brit, but I'm also a fan of Federer, Henin, Clijsters and Wozniacki.
