Holy shit, someone paid a lot for that one.

I believe the guy is selling CD-r copies. Look at his feedback and you can see how many previous copies the guy has sold. There's another copy on e-bay at the moment.

If you going to buy a copy, don't get into a bidding war and pay over the odds. If someone has a genuine copy, can they let us know how to tell the genuine article from a fake. One clue maybe the type of disc used on a genuine version.

Were they even released on CD?

Yes it is common that instrumental promo's are available to the media like tv and radio for use as background music.
