im not kidding that guy has everything planned out

i'd buy his book if he made one...

ahh im hopeless

hmm maybe he'll be back later on...but then again you'll be gone :)

The following quote is from Good Will Hunting. Unfortunately it’s not really advice, just a great moment in an awesome movie. It shows how easy meeting a girl *should* be..

SKYLAR

You suck.

WILL

What?

SKYLAR

I've been sitting over there for forty-

five minutes waiting for you to come

talk to me. But I'm just tired now

and I have to go home and I wasn't

going to keep sitting there waiting

for you.

WILL

I'm Will.

SKYLAR

Skylar. And by the way.

That guy over there is a real dick and

I just wanted you to know he didn't

come with us.

WILL

I kind of got that impression.

SKYLAR

Well, look, I have to go. Gotta' get

up early and waste some more money on

my overpriced education.

WILL

I didn't mean you. Listen, maybe...

SKYLAR

Here's my number.

Skylar produces a folded piece of paper and offers it to Will.

SKYLAR (cont'd)

Maybe we could go out for coffee

sometime?

WILL

Great, or maybe we could go somewhere

and just eat a bunch of caramels.

SKYLAR

What?

WILL

When you think about it, it's just as

arbitrary as drinking coffee.

SKYLAR

(laughs)

Okay, sounds good.

She turns.

WILL

Five minutes.

SKYLAR

What?

WILL

I was trying to be smooth.

(indicates clock)

But at twelve-fifteen I was gonna come

over there and talk to you.

SKYLAR

See, it's my life story.

Five more minutes and I would have got

to hear your best pick-up line.

WILL

The caramel thing is my pick-up line.

Personally, I approach girls differently than most. I don’t *lust* after someone based off a first impression. In the past, when I was ever interested in a girl, it was because there was a friendship first. Making new friends is what makes life fun, at least for me… Once this sequence is understood, the break down helps me move past that friend-barrier without the nervousness that comes with asking out a new girl. Making a *friend*, regardless of what the future may hold, is simple. Build off a common interest or mutual friend. When nothing’s on the line, people allow themselves to open up easier. When dating someone you don’t know very well, you watch your words to exchange the right impressions, etc. It’s just too much trouble in my opinion - Friends before all else.

^^

Hmm... I should actually take your advice lol. :)

By the way Richard, by are you so good at this stuff? :P

no im not so much a nerd as i am a dork....

BIG difference

True.

Nerd implies social recluse (sic?) while dork implies social malfunction.

aww Richard's sig:

Sometimes I wish I was special

But most of the time, I just am

you are

You're the best!

Thanks!

That made me feel cool.

yes we'll its past my bedtime sadly

wish me luck with that girl tomorrow eh?

Good luck ... after the fact (hopefully).

I have no doubt that as long as you stay calm and be yourself then the interaction will be positive. At worst you'll find out more about her and save yourself some time. Either way, at 15 years old these types of interactions are good. They'll help you down the road. If you can develop an ability to converse effectively outside of your comfort zone you'll find yourself a much more convincing and confident person.

And you'll make a lot more of your true personality available to the world ... which is always a good thing.

ah ... Good Will Hunting.

That movie just wouldn't have worked if he didn't leave for California in the end.

^

well you are hon ;)

Who said I was good? :D

Meeee! :D :P

If she's saying "I dunno" and you think she's being honest, then it's probably best to move on to somehting else ... just say "That's cool. What about X?"

However, most people say I dunno and don't really mean it. You can say something like "Oh, come on" and politely repeat the question. Or maybe just nudge a little and say something like "are you sure you don't know," implicitly hinting that you're not satisified with her answer.

But if she says "i dunno" too much then she's just being difficult. Personally, I have little tolerance from that and I'd move on. But if you really like her, just keep pressing politely, maybe even saying something like "Are you sure you don't know?" or "Do you not know or do you not want to tell me?"

But too many "I dunno" responses means "I am a boring person."

At least to me.
