So it kept making this clicking noise that you could feel like it's something shaking inside and then squealing so I reset it and now all that will come up is this red x with a big red circle around it or something that says http://www.apple.com/support/ipod underneath it and it's still doing the ticking or whatever it's doing. What is this crap? :shifty:

okay, so the computer won't recognize it or it won't let it, we can't seem to put it into disk mode, and the whole hitting thing has proven to be ineffective. :|

Have you tried to force a system reset?

System reset?

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

 

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

That's what I did before it gave me that stupid red x.

 

It can't do anything now.
